Anyone manage to beat the rush for Baez in their league?

I've gotten 3 calls from people who were a few minutes lagging on the pickup after I landed him. Somehow Shelton was still available too, so today wasn't all bad.

Very wise move on Baez, he's still available in my league.

i already had him in the deep nsbb vs. cards talk league, and i scooped him up in another league

I picked Baez in the draft in my Yahoo league. I thought Gagne could be a question mark coming back from TJS anyway, and with 16 teams in the league Gagne seemed like a good late pick. In the other league I'm in (a CBS Sportsline keeper league) I had him last year, but didn't use one of my keepers on him (I already had Chad Cordero and B.J. Ryan as keepers as a result of postseason trades for draft picks). Somebody else picked up Baez in the draft.

He was already taken in my league which if you want to compete you have to have 3 closers (12 team league so its difficult). Most teams have the closers in waiting on teams with shaky closers so its rough. I did claim Rodney off waivers. Unfortunately, the stupid Tigers will probably give Jones his job back just because they are paying him too much. Rodney is a much better option for them.

I got Baez last night as soon as I saw the news here (thank you NSBB!). But as I was about to add Shelton, my wife came in and asked to check her email. When I got back 10 minutes later (after he'd hit his 2nd homer last night), my buddy had taken him. :evil:

I have Baez on one of my leagues from the draft. I'm looking pretty good right now :D

I was able to get Baez in one league and Papelbon in two of them. I got Shelton in the same league I got Baez and Papelbon as well. Apparently none of my friends follow baseball.

Once I saw the breaking news, I signed in and landed him

Snagged Shelton in the 20th round when I heard he had moved up to 6th in the order...laughing all the way to the bank. He had an awesome year last year and will be better this year.

I must be crazy. I picked Shelton in the middle rounds, however, my reasoning behind it is a little more subtle: I was hoping and praying he'd gain catcher eligibility. If he were to get that, he'd be a potential third round pick. Also I'm playing in some deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep leagues, so I had to snag him earlier than some of y'all.
