Brandon Backe had an anti-inflammatory shot for his back, and his first start will be pushed from Wednesday to Friday.

Backe threw a full side session Tuesday at about 80 percent, so the Astros are confident he'll be able to pitch.

 

Wandy Rodriguez has been moved up to face the Marlins on Wednesday as a result of Brandon Backe's back problem.He had been scheduled to start Friday.

Minor point of emphasis: Farnsworth comes in with a man on base in the 8th inning of a tie game and gets the next two guys out to end the inning. No one thinks anything of it. Had he given up a run, or worse, a home run, we would have remembered that much more.

As an Astros fan at the game last night, I was extremely impressed with Sergio Mitre's dominance (although the Astros offense isn't exactly the murderers' row)

 

As much as I hate having Juan Pierre on an NL Central rival, I am glad that Mitre isn't. He has lots of potential.
