Ryan Church sent to AAA

I am all for getting Church but not for Marquis. I think Marquis is gonna have a really good year this year.

You're telling me, reggiemiller, that you would RATHER keep Marquis, a VASTLY OVERRATED PITCHER, and go with a Taguchi/Bigbie/Rodriguez/Gall LF instead of trading Marquis and replace him with an Adam Wainwright type young pitcher, and get an upgrade with Church?

I would say that since Mulder and Suppan are both free agents next yearI wouldnt be trading away starting pitching away. Also Marquis was maybe the Cards best pitcher the last month of the season and has a really good spring. I think he is going to have a good year this year and have an ERA in the mid 3's. Plus allthough Church is a good prospect he hasnt shown that he would be that much of an improvement of their LF platton of this year.

Brian (Lexington, KY): With the Nationals' decision to send Ryan Church down, is there a chance for a team like the Cardinals to swing a deal for him? Larry Bigbie doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me.

I've been told the Nationals aren't that high on Church. Some people there have questioned his willingness to play hurt and his overall toughness. If a team needs an outfielder, this might not be a bad time to make a run at him. But I don't know if the Cards are in the mix for him.

That's interesting. Church also isn't as young as I thought he was. He's 27 I think.
