Was that fastball clocked at 99 mph?!

The strikeout? I thought I saw 96. He hit 97 in that inning, I believe, but I don't think I saw anything higher than that.

The pitch right before strike three is the one I'm talking about. It was 96 for the K pitch.

Well, it certainly has a lot of life on it. Once he gets the control to be able to throw that on the inside corner without leaving it over the middle of the plate, it's going to be fun.

Well, he had 18 starts on the infield last year, 8 in the outfield(the games started breakdown would have been nice to find before I went through the game log), and Neifi plays more positions in the infield.

Last year the Cubs had significant infield injuries at 2B (Walker), SS (Nomar), and 3B (Aram). If all the starting infielders miss as many starts this year as they did last year, Neifi is going to get plenty more than 25 starts.

But the original poster said that if the starting infielders were healthy, he didn't expect Neifi to get more than 25 starts. The "if healthy" clause will almost certainly not be met, so we'll never know. But I don't think that's a crazy view; in the unlikely event that the other infielders are healthy, I'm not sure I'd expect more than 25-30 starts for Neifi either.

That was a pretty sweet first pitch curve.

And there it is again. Wow.
