In a rare spring night game, the Cubs travel to the Peoria Sports Complex to face Woody Williams and the Padres.

The game is not being broadcast in the Chicago area, but both San Diego channel 4 and XPRS radio are carrying the game. It should be on MLB audio and tv.

The Cubs are dead even on their record this spring.

That's the Mighty 1090 AM for those of us in So Cal who can't get San Diego's channel 4 (LA, Orange County and the Inland Empire). Good thing, because I should be in my car for part of the game.

P.S. I used to (I think illegaly, but I'm not positive - the channel isn't supposed to air outside of San Diego County) get San Diego's Channel 4 at my apartment in Westwood when I went to UCLA.

There's no way I can bring myself to listen to this game. Those Padre announcers are jagoff cub bashers. I had enough of them the last time they played. Tim Flannery can take his little groundball and shove it up his a............

Juan Pierre with a leadoff bloop single over Khalil Greene's head.

A leadoff single, a steal and a single by the #2 hitter?? Have we done that in this century?

Followed by an RBI-single by Aramis. Aramis has a hit in 7 consecutive games.

Jacque Jones flies out to deep right center field, Todd Walker tags and scores.

Mabry grounds into a 4-6-3 DP. 2-0 Cubs in the middle of the first.

So First inning racap? Is this correct:

Pierre Singles

Pierre Steals 2nd

Walker singles, Pierre to third.

Aramis Singles, Pierre scores, Walker to Third

Jacque Jones sacrifice Fly, Walker scores, Aramis still at first.

Mabry grounds into DP.

Yes, that's right.

And Maddux just served up a 3-run shot to Mike Piazza. 3-2 Fathers.

Well, he's probably right. There are a handful of decent offensive catchers, Barrett among them. There is a huge drop off from the good offensive catchers to the rest of the league.
