As he should.

In terms of how the entire Snyder situation and the whole hiring committee thing was handled, I disagree. But in terms of how our sports teams (minus basketball) have performed the past few years, I agree.

I see the point about the success of non-revenue sports, but I wonder how many of those coaches Alden has hired.

Taking a look at the sports that have been successful recently:

Baseball- Not hired by Alden

Women's Basketball- Hired in 1998, near when Alden was hired, unsure

Wrestling- Hired in 1998, near when Alden was hired, unsure

Gymnastics- Hired by Alden

Softball- Hired by Alden

Volleyball- Hired by Alden

So it looks like Alden brought in anywhere between half and 80+% of those coaches. Have to give him credit for that.

I think keeping alden was a mistake

Probably. They'll probably do it the Mizzou way and do it next year, a year later than necessary.

Regardless, Anderson was a good hire. If he can recruit top-100 talent, his style could be exciting. Belein might have been better (as would a MAjerus, IMO), but I think MU moved the right way.

UNC-Wilmington head coach Brad Brownell was in Muncie recently to interview for the Ball State coaching job. He's done a great job at UNCW, so this would also be a good hire.
Brownell hired as coach by Wright State.

Interesting, last I heard he was close to an extension with UNCW. He went from sure thing to BSU to sure thing to UNCW to done with Wright State in about four days.

I'm leaning back in Tony Barbee's direction.

Herb Sendek is leaving NC State to become head coach at Arizona State. This was mentioned between games on the CBS Final Four telecast.

Mike Davis has accepted the Alabama-Birmingham job. The deal was worked out Thursday night and expected to be announded on Friday. I actually think this is a good fit for Davis, since he'll be back home where he has an established recruiting base. If he has a good assistant coach to help with some of the in-game decision making, I think he could establish UAB as a perennial power.

Anderson supposedly had his best recruiting class yet coming too.

Muncie is buzzing about Ronny Thompson. :D JT and JTIII were in town for the press conference.

After last year and the 50-point juggernaut, Thompson's "up-tempo" offense will be well-received.

Can't wait for 06-07!

It'd be nice if he could swing some of those guys over here.
