ARam groundball past hall (ruled a basehit, but it was an error). RBI single.

3-0 Cubs.

We sure are executing with men in scoring position and less then two outs this spring, be it hits, contact, or sac flys.

I don't know if what should have been a groundball out is really executing.

I can't see, plus Im at work and can't hear. Was it an error?

If it wasn't for Hall's "error" then we'd have wasted Pierre's leadoff double. All small ball did there is cost us an out.

How many runs did we leave on the bases in those situations last year? I think i counted one time in the middle of the season and we'd left like 13 runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs in just the prior week and a half....if we can do better at just that aspect of the game this year we'll be an improved team.

I never counted but my recollection is that it happened a lot. Pat and Ron comment about it as well. It does seem much better this spring but it's still early.

Walker successfully sac bunts Pierre to 3rd. Aramis up with one out, man on 3rd.

Infuriating.

:?:

Sacrifice bunting with no one out, and with your two hitter, who is left handed, and in a spring training game, and early on in said spring training game. Stupid to the nth degree.

IIRC, it was Hairston who sacrificed Pierre to 3rd.

Nice outing for Marshall. Good to see some of the kids trying to step into the #5 slot. That three good outings in a row for Gooz, Hill and Marshall.

BeerBet: Gooz wins and starts the season in the #5 slot

But, still, Neifi or Hairston wouldn't have had that one because neither of them play 1B.

anyone think marshall has a shot at the 5th spot?

Sure why not. Dusty seems to like him and he has shown good control and he's gotten people out.

Yes, but said joke is getting very old.

Howry is pitching like crap.

He is but it's ST and still early. Relievers take some time to get zoned in, at least that's what I thought.

If I am not mistaken, before today, I think he's given up one unearned run and maybe 5 baserunners in 7 or 8 appearances. him and eyre have been pretty much lights out all spring.
