There is really no other reason. But hopefully today's performance convinced him to play DLee at first from now on, and to hell with spreading around the PT.

one would think, if one had the capacity to, that in trying to win a championship of any sort, you would play the best players available, no?

I really had no major problem with giving Teixeira a chance today and give Lee a rest. As long as Lee plays against Mexico, its fine by me.
