If a team picks up Welly on waivers, he doesn't have to be placed on the roster, does he? Can he be sent directly to AAA by the team that picks him up?

Wellemeyer in to pitch for the CUBS

Bloomquist singled to left field

Reed singled to right field, Bloomquist to third

Reed stole second base, Bloomquist holding third

Ibanez walked

Sexson singled to left field, Bloomquist & Reed scored, Ibanez to second

Everett singled to right field, Ibanez to third, Sexson to second

Clemmons in to pinch run for Everett, Sears pinch running for Sexson

Lawton popped out to third base (infield fly rule called)

Betancourt grounded into a DP, 6-4-3, Clemmons out at second

 

2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 2 men left on base
