overrated.

I watched from a friend's window, before the rooftops all went commercial. It was fun, but not something you "have to do". I've been to one rooftop, and it was an okay experience. You're just so far away, I really don't think it is close to as cool as Wrigley.

I personally enjoyed it. We rented one for my bachelor party. We took a charter bus from the Dubuque, Iowa area into Chicago, went to Murphy's, and then went up a half hour before the game. That is the earlies we could go up there. We had about 50 people, so the majority of the people where from our group. I don't know how much fun the other people had, but my group had a great time. The view isn't the greatest from the rooftop, but the atmosphere was a blast. Might be different if it was only a couple of people.

We went in April, so it was chilly, but all the food and drinks were included, so that warmed me up right away...not to mention it was my bachelor party, so I really wasn't feeling much of anything by the 3rd inning.

Overall, I enjoyed the one time I was there. The company my brother went through to get it is posted below.

I'm just curious. Have any of you ever watched from one of the rooftops? Share experiences here. One day, that is something I would like to do.

I'm going for my first time in April. Its a lot of money but something I've always wanted to do. It will be weird not being in Wrigley though.

Yeah the view isn't as great as being in the park obvious, nor do you neccesarily get the sense of being at a baseball game with 40,000 other people, but most of the rooftops have an open food/bar policy included with the price. Can't beat that!

Yes, that part was great. Basically it's like being in a beer garden. It's a bar atmosphere, not a stadium atmosphere. It can be great to go to a bar with friends and watch a game. Having a view of the park adds to it, even if the view of the field ain't great. Just as long as you go expecting the right atmosphere, you'll enjoy it.

I could see it being a great place for a corporate outing, bachelor party, etc. But for rabid Cub fans, like most here, its hardly a good way to see the game. You feel so disconnected from the atmosphere and the flow of the game. It was a cool one time only experience but not anything that I would seek out tickets for.

Yeah...I kind of reached on some of the people, but in order to lower the price of the charter bus, we tried to get around 50. By the time I got my family (dad, brothers, uncles and cousins are all huge Cubs fans) and friends we were around 35 people. We then branched out and had a few friends of friends come too. We had a charter bus in and back and rooftop for $125. 25 for the bus and 100 for the rooftop.

What we talked about after the thing was over is that for $125 bucks it was a relatively cheap bachelor party. No hotels, flights, etc.

You should have brought along strippers. Strippers on a rooftop during a Cubs game would be a thing of beauty!

Yep, once, in 2002 at 1032 W. Waveland. I really enjoyed it. Food and beer was better than what you'd typically get in the park. You'd lose the ball once it got within 10 feet of the outfield wall or so; other than that, the view was great -- kinda like being in a bleacher upper deck.

Glad to see a fellow Iowan...Dubuque native....

I enjoyed my time on teh roof-top. it definitely doesn't beat the ballpark but it's fun because you have more room to roam around and you are with just whom you know. that and it's usually around 100 bucks so you get your money worth in beer and food as compared to spending that much on beer and tickets alone at Wrigley.

I've done it 3 times...once for my bachelor party...I've loved it each time...I thought it was an awsome experience. Yeah...its different than sitting behind home plate and keeping score...but I think you know what you're going for when you get rooftop seats...its a great time...Highly recommend it at least once or twice.

All the way from Dubuque though? I'd have kicked them out by Freeport.

Kick out da strippers! NEVER!

This is me and my Dad at a game 2 years ago.

It was one of the games against the Reds the last week of the season. Night game on a rooftop in September. Awesome weather, great food and lots of beer. Great time.

Your dad looks a little upset that there's a Cards fan smiling next to him.

That was the last week of the season right after the disasterous trip to New York.

He wasn't real happy about the team that night, but I usually know when not to poke the bear. :koolaid:

I was going to say he looks a little pissed that some strange dude is trying to hug him.

When he has an extra ticket to games, I can go on one condition, NO RED!

"You wear something blue or you don't go!"

Well, you should never, EVER, get strippers in DBQ. the mere thought of it is making my stomach churn. If you find yourself on a bus with a stripper from Dbq, don't wait for the bus to stop. Jump, and pray you got off in time to avoid the delousing.

I went last April. it was a good time, but it wasn't worth the price you'd normally pay. I got my tickets for $30 each, and for that it was well worth it.

I drank x beers and ate y burgers, where x is probably somewhere between 8 and 12 and y>4

Good call, I forgot how, um, salty those girls can be...

Although, there is one place that's worse. EAST Dbq, just across the river in Illinois. I can never hear the words River Queen again and think clean, wholesome family thoughts.
