Is XM 12.95 a month like Sirius is? Also, how much is the most basic receiver? Lastly, XM doesn't make you sign a contract, do they? In other words, you can just pay month-to-month, right? I'm tempted to purchase XM for the baseball games.

Its 12.95...can't remember if you have to pay for a full year or not...I'd guess you do, but Its worth it. I love the MLB homeplate...I got it for Christmas and have listened to baseball this morning every day on the way to work...not to mention all the other good channels...its well worth the $$

XM is great, no contracts. Can pay by the month or purchase up to 5 years at once. If you decide to cancel, they will credit you the difference.

Every baseball game you want...

im not sure about the cheapest radio, but i got a second one yesterday for $50 (it comes with a port to use in your car and can be used in the home too, but you'll need to buy an additional docking station and antenna(another $40 i think))

Do you get just the home team broadcast - or do you have a choice of either team broadcast?

go to slickdeals.net and search for XM. They have codes that provide free activation and cheaper subscription fees. THey also have ways of getting the reciver for free if you sign up for 3 months at a time. I did this at Chrstmas and I got a free Roady XT and prepaid 3 months, then I have to pay for another 3 months. Basically you sign a 6 month contract and get the radio for free.

The MyFi is awesome. It's a little pricey, but being able to have a portable unit is great!
ive got one and i think its a pile of crap...the recievers for the plug in antenna and power source didnt hold up, if i try to move it from my car to home or vice versa it takes 10-15 minutes just to get it to work properly again...i just went out and bought the $50 roady to use in my car so i can leave the myfi hooked up to my home stereo...granted it worked great for 8 months, but for upwards of $300 i expect better...also, it gets nothing for reception without either the home or auto antenna...the little personal antenna is awkward and not particularly effective

Alright so I have another question. I only drive my car a couple days a week, so it'd be pointless to get a receiver that goes in my car. A friend of mine had a boombox type of thing, but I can't remember if it was XM or Sirius. Do they make handheld devices that come with the little iPod like earpieces? Ideally, that's what I'd be looking for - something that would allow me to listen to Cubs games in class. But also, I'd like to be able to set the unit down in my house and/or connect it to my stereo. Anyone really know about these things, or should I just go to Best Buy and ask them?

The MiFi is portable, but inside the portable antenae is useless, so unless you have the means to hook it up to a base with a proper antenae situated near a window, I wouldn't reccomend it. But, the MiFi does come with earphones that can be plugged in directly. It also can be utilized through it's FM transmitter.

So, while the MiFi would be idea if you wanted something portable, unless your class is outdoors or you could set up the base and indoor antenae in class, it would be useless for listening to Cubs games in class.

Or, if you are inside bit near a window exposed to the south/southwest, it will work. My MiFi works indoors without the antenna in certain areas.

My office faces southeast, and I get perfect reception. I have a SkyFi2. Greatest Christmas gift ever.
