Well its the time of year again. Here is a timeline of ticket related events this week

Wednesday 2/22 - Wristbands will be distributed from 11AM - 10PM

Thursday 2/23 - Wristbands will be distributed from 7AM - 10PM

Friday 2/24 -

-6:00AM - Winning wristband number is announced on WGN 720

-8:00AM - Tickets go on sale at Wrigley Field

-10:00AM - Tickets go on sale online and through 1-800-THE-CUBS (1-866-652-2827 for out of state residents)

-10:30AM - White Sox series likely sold out

Saturday 2/25 - Tickets go on sale at Tickets.com outlets such as the Chicagoland Sports Authority Stores and the Tribune Store (located at 435 N. Michigan Ave)

So in the interim, the topic will be: who is planning on getting wristbands, what games are people trying to get tickets for, what do you think will be the most popular series this year with no major series (other then the White Sox) jumping out (a la Red Sox last year)

I'll be getting my wristband, hoping to get within 500 of the winning number like last year. In what may be unpopular to some here, I plan on buying my max share of tickets, and sell some of them to break even with the games I plan to goto. My target series are in Cards series (especially April), SF series in September (history in the making?) and of course the White Sox series.

I want the home opener so badly.

I'll take any pair of tickets I can get.

Sadly I'll be on tour Friday morning so I won't be able to go online and get them myself. I'm leaving the woman up to the huge task of getting tickets.

I'm getting a wristband. Gunning for Sox series to sell and pay for a lot of the rest of the tix. After that it's the NSBB game on May 18, Giants series, and the St. Louis series in August. Not expecting much, though. I got 100 away from the number 2 years ago, so to expect it again would simply be too lucky.

No wristband for me this year since I wouldn't be able to make it down. I have three hours of class presentations to sit through on Friday (including one of my own), but I'm going to borrow my brother's laptop to use in the classroom.

I'm only going to go for a value date and the July Cardinals series, though.

Quick Question: I dont remember exactly from last year, but say I get into the ticket buying portion, and I choose a game, and put in i want bleachers. If there are no bleachers left do I get sent back into the waiting room, or can I pick a different seat? Also, if I decide I dont want nosebleeds for a certain game and wanna switch games, they will send me back into the waiting room even if i didnt purchase any tix right?

If I remember correctly, you could do both of those without a trip back to the VWR.

I'm going for tickets to the April 8th game against the Cards. After that, I'll try for one of weekend July games against St. Louis. If both of those fail, I'll settle for any random weekend game during the first two months.

Even if you dont get tix to the Home Opener, you may be better off just scalping those tix day of the game. If it is cold out, like it usually is you can get really good seats for face value, or you can get other seats for cheap. Always check at the ticket window before you scalp though, sometimes you will get lucky.

I have gone to opening day several years in a row, but it is usually just too cold for me so I am passing on it this year (I must be getting old). I split a season ticket package with a group of guys , so I can get my pick of other games.

They've seemed to have changed things a little bit this year (at least I don't remember this last year):

You will need a cubs.com account in order to purchase 2006 Chicago Cubs tickets.

Take the first step towards seeing the Cubs in action this season at Wrigley Field.

Create a cubs.com account now,

or check or change your password »

PLEASE NOTE: The address you register with must match the billing address of the credit card being used to purchase tickets.

Did you have to have a Cubs.com account last year? Also, notice that whatever you register on cubs.com has to match the credit card being used to purchase the tickets.

Every time I have tried to register, it has said they are upgrading the site. Has anybody else had similar problems?

It is the same basic account. And yeah, I got nothing but the "we're upgrading the site" message every time but once. I assume it's just to try to speed up the checkout process, although I seriously doubt it's going to do anything but create problems if they actually make you sign in.

My number 1 preferences are the 7/27-7/30 or the 8/18-8/20 Cardinals series. If I can't get those, I'll get either the 7/14-7/16 Mets series or the 8/4-8/6 Pirates series.

I just won an auction on ebay for opening day at the Reds. I already had tickets to the second game, but openers sold out at Cincy in 10 minutes.

Good point about ticket buying via the Heckler:

Only the Cubs would make fans stand outside for hours in the middle of winter just for the chance to buy tickets. Stick it to the man by keeping your ears or fingers exposed, and then sue for $1 million in damages.

I am going for June 13 - 18 Houston and Detroit. Also going for May 12 and 13. Since Detroit is interleague I hope it's not going to be to hard to get compared to just a regular game.

Going out there around 5:30 tonight to get my wristband. Anyone one been out there yet? What does the line look like? Last year it took about 45 minutes to get a wristband, hopefully this time it will be less.

i didn't see any line this morning on my way to the L, but then again I wasn't paying attention coming down Seminary. Could've walked past several hundred people and probably not noticed.

Not sure what time you left this morning, but the wristbands started being distributed at 10 AM. Last year I went at about noon on the first day, and the line actually stretched around the park. Not sure if they will have a different way of queueing people this year, considering the ongoing construction in the OF.

Ah, well that's why. It was about 9 Am. Thought it started at 8 for some reason...

Tomorrow it starts at 7. My buddy went there earlier, and said he was in and out in 5 minutes. Also, he said they aren't doing their operations in the old car wash this year, but at a location across the street from the 7-11

Just got back, the wait was about 10 minutes long. I got numbers around 2,000, 6,500, and 8,000 (myself and two friends). The biggest number wristband I saw was numbered over 18,000.

I'll be picking mine up tomorrow morning
