It looks like the Marlins attempt to find a home has led them to Oklahoma.

Link.

Lt. Gov. Mary Fallin has talked to the Florida Marlins about the possibility of having the team move to Oklahoma City.

"It's all very preliminary, but I have received some good feedback from the Marlins," Fallin said in a statement Thursday.

Marlins owner Jeff Loria once owned the old Oklahoma City 89ers Triple-A team.

Fallin said she wrote to Marlins president David Samson last November after seeing reports that the team was considering leaving the Miami area. The Marlins have not been able to strike a deal for a new ballpark in the Miami area.

Who thinks this may have been catalyzed by the Hornets doing better in Oklahoma City than they did in NOLA pre-Katrina? I wouldn't be suprised if Oklahoma City keeps that franchise as well. If they can pack the seats, then they deserve the teams. period.

There's five other NBA teams that want to relocate if the Hornets don't stay.

Basketball has gone over here in an unbelievable way, but I don't think we have the ability to support a MLB franchise. If the NBA is smart, we will keep the Hornets and they will move one of the others to NO

YES YES YES

omg this is the greatest news i ever heard.

I was thinking about this earlier this year when the Hornets took off. The Ford Center is just about packed for every game, and it is loud as hell.

Jesus, if we got major league baseball in Oklahoma, i'd be in HEAVEN.

I just wonder what they'd do for a ballpark?

This is just a wild guess, but I think they'd build one somewhere.

Or expand Bricktown Ballpark.

Well we have plenty of open spaces here in OKC. So plenty of room for new ballpark. However I think the Bricktown ballpark being as nice as it is they could just update it and expand it.

I was talking to my father in law last night he thinks the only problem is the corporate sponsorship. Apparently that was a big problem in bringing the Hornets here.
