Rockies acquire INF Carroll from Nationals

The Colorado Rockies on Saturday purchased the contact of infielder Jamey Carroll from the Washington Nationals for $300,000.

 

Why wouldnt Hendry try to get Carroll? Makes more sense to get him then sign Augie Ojeda.

Looking at Carroll's numbers he is a carrer .269 BA with a .344 OBP

 

Defensive stats from 05:

 

SS: 41 Games 1.000 Fielding%

2B: 63 Games .980 Fielding%

3B: 12 Games 1.000 Fielding%

 

Sounds like a pretty good utility player.

I'm not sure where Carroll would fit.

 

Although Carroll would be better to have around than Neifi.

I can't speak for him, however, I believe that if you take one part Neifi's hitting, one part Baker's usage and one part 2 year contract at 5 million= Nuts

yeah, the fact that Neifi freaking Perez is being paid 2.5 million makes me sick to my stomach.

Neifi hit .274 last year. An he is a carrer .270 hitter.

We went over this in the Dunn thread too. Neifi is one of the worst hitters of this generation to get as many AB's as he has. His batting average is not very important, and it pales in comparison to his nightmarishly bad OBP, especially when you consider how much time he spent at Coors field.

I understand that. And I'm saying that you're dead wrong. Carroll can hit, he can get on base. His defense is decent at several IF positions. Neifi is a good defender, and a human wasteland with the bat.

Carroll gets the edge IMO. Neifi slugs higher--though still a terrible slugger--, Carroll gets on-base more--and does so at a decent clip. Off the bench, I'd definitely want Caroll because he can get on-base. Thats what you want out of a bench player, defense and the ability to get on base. Anything else is a bonus.
