Is the mascot a pissed off antelope?

it's a deer (Spikes refers to antlers I guess). It wasn't the mascot I voted for.

He voted for this one:

had "The Morans" been a choice i might very well have

The Morans are Maasai warriors who took stimulants to prevent fear and fatigue in battle.

And besides, a Moran mascot might set a bad example for the children who attend minor league games.

They would have used Erin Moran (Joanie Cunningham of Happy Days) as their mascot.

...than the sight of a new minor league park being built?

especially when it's < 3 miles from your house...

That is incredibly lucky......the <3 miles part.......how cool will that be to be able to walk there.......that is awesome....What league will they be in ?

NY-Penn League. They say they are putting the Penn back in the NYPL (since Williamsport was the only Pennsylvania team last year)

When PNC Park was going up, I was working right there, either in the towers just to the north, with a great view of the stadium, or on block to the east, where we'd walk over every day to watch.

It's fun having a new stadium go up! :-)

well I'm getting my mini-plan package today. 6 Sunday games. Plus I have tix for an Accuweather night (courtesy of dad) and I'll probably try to get tix to Opening Day. I'm pretty psyched.

I love the team names in the package:

Batavia Muckdogs

Jamestown Jammers

Staten Island Yankees (boo!)

Auburn Doubledays

Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Vermont Lake Monsters

The ballpark is nearly done with a month to go before the season:

that park looks amazing

Apparently as a purchaser of a mini-plan I will get invited to a pre-season reception/park tour. I'm pretty psyched. The park does look beautiful. The ownership group is top notch (they also own the Altoona Curve), plus Penn State Men's Baseball will play there next year

I guess I've been spoiled with my minor league stadium experiences. The few I've been to have all been nice. The Schamburg Flyers, Altoona Curve, and then (soon) this one. I have no doubt that many are dumps. Looks liek they're doing this one right.

Alright, tickets in hand, 8 games in total. Opening Day of the inaugural season i'll be 2nd row.

Plus a Curve game and possibly the Eastern League All Star Game.

Nuts to the Cubs...I want to go see players who actually care

replace the seta behind the bull pen with a grassy knoll and playground and you have an exact replica of Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, home of the shorebirds.

Great thing about ninor leagues is that you're never far from the action even in the worst seats.

Unfortunately the pristine-ness of the outfield wall will soon be defaced with billboards, but such is the view of any minor league park

I hope that Gene Stocker and Edgar Snyder get some ad space!
