They'll be counting on some fortunes of good health to validate that spending. Especially Burnett, who's being teamed up with Arnsberg again.

They have some nice pieces in a very tough division.

They'll be banking on him trying to keep up with the same pace offensively, and not too much decline defensively over last year. It'll be safe in terms of years for a catcher in his 30s.

glaus's health is no given either. I don't much care for their moves really. molina should hit a good bit better there than in Anaheim.

They're all very Cub-like moves. Hope for the best, and have no real plan B.

All the guys they signed are high risk, high reward (with the exception of Overbay who's pretty solid. If it works out for them, I would love it just to keep Boston and NY down for a year or two.

I agree - right down to Overbay who is solid but fairly mediocre.

I agree that they are all high risk moves, but when your competing with New York and Boston they pretty much have to try to make moves like the ones they have made. There not gonna have that much success luring a ton of free agents to Toronto unless they overpay which they did.
