I read somewhere yesterday that Guzman is back to throwing 96-99 mph fastballs ....

just outta curiosity, where did you read this? i didn't know he had the ability to hit 99 to begin with. if that's true, this is outstanding.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "mph" were a misprint and the story really just related that he is throwing between 96-99 pitches in warming up before each inning of his simulated games against Jose Macias and Augie "Boom-Boom" Ojeda.

that made me sob like a school girl

It looks like the Angels are offering Weaver a one year deal for around 9 million.

Link.

The Angels continue to dangle a short-term contract offer to Jeff Weaver, likely for one year and roughly $9million. But Stoneman said he would be content going to camp with veteran Hector Carrasco competing with minor-league pitchers, including Weaver's younger brother, Jered, for the fifth-starter job.

"If we do it, then it happens. If we don't, we've got a good group of in-house guys," Stoneman said. ...

If Wood were on the market today, what we he garner? Just curious to see what everyone here thinks.

I would guess that the Rangers would be willing to throw a bank at him, thus skewing his value to a degree.

Despite his arm problems, Kerry has maintained wicked stuff. That is why he is so difficult to just cut loose, IMO. I think Kerry could still dictate a 4/40m or 5/$50M contract from a couple of potential suitors. (And, that is still likely low.)

Woody's got better stuff than Burnett, but his injury history should push him south of Burnett's contract. It would be interesting to see him on the open market, but I'd rather he gets healthy and performs for us (ridiculous, I know).

A few teams would probably throw him a decent amount of money.

My prediction is that Wood has a real good season this year. Since this is a contract year, he'll come to camp more serious.
