This article mentions Zambrano already throwing off the mound and preparing for the WBC. Im guessing he is doing his prep in Arizona training camp. Looks like they are keeping a close eye on him.

They ought to chain him to his bunk in Mesa, or, failing that, have the Cubs put on Venezuelan uniforms and just tell him they're playing in the WBC.

LOL I like the uniform idea.

The Superbowl is over, it is time for baseball!

Unfortuantely we're still a ways away from any meaningful games yet.

I'm not sure we'll see any meaningful games at all in 2006, but I'm still looking forward to it.

They're all meaningful if you have a fantasy baseball team... :P

Or if you're a baseball fan that just loves the sport.

That's why I am going to Vienna. Booya.

Whether you love the sport or not, they always hold more meaning if you have a vested interest somehow. Whether it be a real team, or an imaginary one.

How long after reporting do selected players leave to train for the WBC? Anyone know?

YEa, that will definatley throw a wrench in teams ST plans.

The rules said something about teams reporting rosters 5 days before the first game. I assume they'll want their people to report before submitting those rosters.

This schedule seems to indicate the non-asian/cuban national teams will report to a major league complex on March 3, training until the 6th before playing on the 7th. Cuba is probably training in Cuba, and the Asians are going to be playing in Tokyo while the rest are still practicing.

The Royals should have added him to their roster.
