that makes no sense.

that makes no sense.

It does if the Cubs really do want Neifi to be a backup instead of a starter. If you make the assumption that Walker is gone, then Lugo improves this team a lot over Neifi.

Then we put Cedeno at 2B?

They'll need to somehow find a taker for Walker and probably shift Cedeno to 2B and Lugo to SS. That'll boost the defense up the middle and create a poor man's version of the daily double that Florida had with Castillo and Pierre.

Lugo's potential value scares me as talks of Marte have been thrown around. The Cubs have no one of that value, including Pie. If they trade for him, he'll join the cast of thousands as far as being a FA after this year.

That would be my guess.

How's that '02 draft looking? :) David Weathers?

Brownlie, Hagerty, Clanton, Sisco, Dopirak....

Maybe the new guy will get it right. ;)

Or maybe we will have someone actually stay healthy this time. :(

I have to say, for a while I was thinking that might be one of the best individual team drafts ever. Wow did the air come out of that baloon quickly.

At least Jones helped us get Nomar.

Sisco was the second rounder after prior.

After Dope came Justin Jones, Petrick, Craig and Rich Hill.

Wow, just wow.

Tampa has to be one of the most difficult teams to deal with. Are they asking for Prior?

They have new ownership and a new GM. I don't think the book is out on them yet.

In this scenario I'd rather have Lugo at 2nd and Ronny at Short, since Lugo has actually played the postition before at the Major league level.

I knew I was forgetting one of them, I could remember Clanton, but forgot JJ. :x

Why did I put Sisco into that group? Meh, it's late...

Speaking of the Sisco draft, quite a dropoff compared to '01.

Good to know. Can they send us Huff too then. :)

Any draft with Prior is going to be a good one. That draft would have been really good if we had signed Khalil, though.

Somehow I sense Hendry is trying to send Walker to Tampa in a deal here.

That would be tough to do with Cantu manning 2B.

Prior, Sisco, Harris, Nolasco. 1st 4 will likely make to the majors, that's a a great draft.

I also forgot Mitre and intentionally Theriot.

Stavisky out of ND was in that draft as well as Jecmen, who I regretted not signing moreso than Greene at the time.
