Jones has a career OPS of 787

Patterson has a career OPS of 707.

Jones' numbers include his prime years, which he is past.

Patterson's numbers don't include his prime years, which he is nearing.

I wouldn't be surprised if your bet works out.

Corey's AVG, OBP, and SLG have gone down every year since '03. I don't know why you think he'll suddenly enter his prime years and be a good hitter. Maybe a change of scenery will benefit him, but nothing else suggests that he'll be worthy of a roster spot in the near future.

Sorry, but I have to change the subject real quick. Frostwyrm, what play is your signature from? I've been following it for months.

"A True Daughter of the Party", by the Mansudae Art Troupe. I take the pictures and captions from a NKorean web site I found.

Five cyber dollars says Patterson has a better OPS than Jones in 2006.

Any want to take that bet?

Do you really believe that Jones is going to digress that badly?

No I believe Patterson isn't nearly as bad as some believe.

Corey will be the "NEXT JEROME WALTON."

Corey won't even outproduce Matt Murton next yr, much less Jones. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me that CPatt is riding the pine before June is out.

Poor Michael both Corey and Richard Lewis won't hang out with him.

Cubs catcher Michael Barrett stuck to his offseason workout regimen but said he was disappointed that both Corey Patterson and Minor League infielder Richard Lewis changed their minds and decided not to train together. The three had planned to drill every day this winter in the Atlanta area. Patterson was traded Monday to Baltimore in exchange for two Minor League players.

That seems like an odd combination of players.

Richard Lewis played collegiately in Atlanta at Georgia Tech; and obviously Corey comes from a GT family and, like Barrett, is originally from the Atlanta area. Perhaps that's the link that had those three targeting to work-out together....Maybe they should have invited Nomar, Murton, and Eric Patterson as well (all former GT players).

Ah, Barrett is from the area too, that makes sense then.

yes I remeber from a notes at the end of last year, that Barrett was setting up a whole workout thing because he knew that Corey was better than his '05 season. He also invited Richard because of his disapointing season.

I'll never understand why we traded Juan Cruz for this:

Seems a little strung out, if you ask me.

Juan Cruz wasn't any more promising.

Orioles agreed to terms with outfielder Corey Patterson on a one-year, $2.8 million contract.

It's the same salary he received a year ago, when he hit .215/.254/.348 in 451 AB for the Cubs. Jan. 17 - 6:17 pm et

Yeah but notice he's holding his left shoulder - probably a rotator cuff injury.
