I have a novel idea. How about naming them something besides the Cubs? How frigging unoriginal is that? Especially when some of those caps have the walking bear logo on them? WTF? The fun of Minor League teams is the ludicrous nicknames they have.

 

I propose the Iowa Screaming Squirrels.

When the White Sox had their AAA team in Des Moines, they were called the Iowa Oaks. Not sure why, oak trees aren't especially prominent in Iowa.

I think it's because Iowa was the AAA team for the Oakland A's before they affiliated with the White Sox, and they just kept the name when switching affiliations.
