If he makes the club, I assume he'd be the 5th OF'er, leaving CP as the 4th and Hairston either as the starting 2B or platoon him at 2B.

With that said, the Cubs would need a stronger 4th OF'er instead of hoping for a rebound from Corey. It's an expensive gamble having Corey as your primary back-up option.

Personally, I still think they need a 4th OF'er who can hit LH'ers and depending on what type of situation Marrero is looking for, he'd be ideal.

I still say Eduardo Perez would be a nice pickup for the Cubs

Nope.

Yeah I don't know about that move either. He's had way too much of an up and down career for me to want him.

Nope - really? Perez would be a solid pickup. He can spell Lee, and take some of the starts from JJ in RF against lefty pitching. 868 career OPS against lefties...yeah I'll take that please.

EDIT: I'd be interested to hear from some of the Cards fans on the board and their take on Perez -- or if anyone knows what happened in 2001 (missed entire year) and 2002 (sub-par year).

I saw the LHP split too...still nope...for now. I like Perez over Grissom, but would rather see how things play out for now. I'll risk Perez not being around in a month...and then only take him cheap and short!

What makes you think there is a possibility of Neifi not being here in a month?

I was refering to Eddie Perez (not Neifi) not being around on the FA market. But thanks for the wishful thinking about Neifi being an ex-Cub!

Wouldn't Mabry be the 4th OF?

UK was probably assuming that Dusty would be starting Mabry and thus he is out of the running for 4th OF.
