Jason Bay- Maybe

Michael Young - I like him

Grady Sizemore - No

Victor Martinez - Maybe

Travis Hafner - Doesn't fit with Lee

Mark Teixeira - see above

David Wright - Doesn't fit with Aramis

Chase Utley - No

Now, are any of them worth Prior or Z? Only Bay, and only maybe.

Say we go after Young for 2nd to reduce his defensive liabilities.

Prior + Walker for Young + Mench or Wilkerson + Pitching prospect

I like Young a lot, but that trade would probably make me throw up all over myself.

Homeplate on x-m radio just mentioned there are talks in a 3-way trade between Boston, Baltimore, and the cubs involving prior

Boston needs to make a big splash right now with the Damon thing blowing up in their face....this should be interesting.

This is just ridiculous. What is Hendry thinking? I think he has lost it. So now we are going to rely on Z, Wood and Maddux to pitch for us? This has to be a joke. I can't even fathom a trade going down of Prior for either Manny or Tejada.

We better be getting Manny AND Tejada then...

Manny AND Tejada? World Series here come the Cubbies =P~

If we can also still hold onto Prior...

That would be nice but since Boston doesn't have a SS I would think Tejada would be going there.

With what starting pitching to hold down the other teams? If you don't have pitching you are not going nowhere. I'll give you Z but Wood will probably be injured and Maddux if history is any indicator will have worse numbers than 2005.

OK. I just playing devil's advocate here. I really don't want to trade Prior, but if he is gone, what REALISTIC return from a Boston/Baltimore trade would justify it? I do not condone it. I'm just asking what realistic return would make us a better team.

We'll give up Mark Prior and get back Jonathan Papelbon, Jon Lester, and Manny Ramirez.

Murph just said on the Score that Oakland may be involved in a 3-way that would involve Zito going to Baltimore. That would definitely help get Prior out of the negotiations. I would think that Oakland would want Bedarek, Hill and probably Dopirak back in the deal. Pie, Zito and a pitcher would go back to the O's as my best guess.

Red Sox get- Ronnie Cedeno, Felix Pie, Rich Hill, Matt Murton

Orioles get- Mark Prior, Angel Guzman, Brian Dopirak

Cubs Get- Erik Bedard, Miguel Tejada, Manny Ramirez

That would make us a better team RIGHT NOW, but we'd be done for if we didn't win the world series immediately.

Let me just say I don't make this trade, considering future implications.

I don't trust Murph as far as I could throw him, but if Zito moving to Balto gets Prior's name off the table, that would be wonderful.

Is that Sarah Silverman in your sig? If so, I'm hoping you took that picture after waking up next to her. She's very underrated when it comes to getting the whole package.

I'd assume though that we'd get some sort of player package in addition to Tejada. Am I wrong?

With your bad knee, Ed, you really shouldn't... ah, nevermind.

I agree with Tree, trading Pie looks a whole lot better now that Prior's name has been bandied about.

I once threw Murph like 4 feet. But I only trusted him for three of them. I definitely threw him farther than I trusted him.

With his defense? That would mean he'd cost the Cubs like 130 runs. Thats a lot of errors.

Manny might cost you 10-20 runs on defense. I'm pretty sure he'd generate a few more than that.

All though I don't hold much weight to this rumor. I do like your idea.

To keep Prior and get Tejada? The ink couldn't dry quick enough for me to make that deal.

Exactly. Now we are talking. But Prior for Tejada at least in my eyes is not a very good move.

I'm also talking injuries and his little fits when he decides not to play.

Hey, I realize he has a great bat. I just don't like the idea of that headcase being on this team. Yes, some of it may be false and he may even be getting a bad rap foe something that isn't his fault. He's been asking to get traded out of Boston for 2 years. As soon as a situation came up at Wrigley he'd do the samething.

As silly as this seems to us, it's possible that the Orioles value Zito higher than Prior.

Begin Rant:

Now that you bring that up I'm thinking that Hendry does have a plan this offseason. When he signed Eyre I thought it was a bad idea. When he traded Pinto, Nolasco, and Mitre for Pierre I thought to myself "dang, the Eyre signing doesn't look so bad now." Then he goes out and proclaims he's excited that Jacque Jones is going to be our starting RF for the next three years. At this point I'm saying to myself "Gee, I'm actually kind of glad we have Pierre now and that Eyre signing looks like a bargain." Just a few days later Hendry "leaks" news that he's using Prior as trade bait to try and get Tejada. By now a kick in the craw and a can of Natty Light sound pretty good. If we only end up losing Pie, Hill, Williams, and Guzman for Tejada we'll think it's the biggest steal since D.B. Cooper's heist.

It's pure genius. Just keep making progressively worse and worse deals and your previous transactions look better and better. Eventually Cubs fans will be dancing in the street because we have Neifi Perez locked up for a few million a year.

End Rant.
