According to a source, the Mariners might have interest in trading Meche for another non-tendered player, Chicago Cubs center fielder Corey Patterson, who presumably has lost his job after the Cubs traded for Juan Pierre earlier this month.

No, he's almost always been pretty terrible.

 

I do understand that he supposedly scouts well.

 

It may be time for some team to try him as a relief pitcher.

 

That's one thing we don't really need, though.

He's had an era of 4.59, 5.01, and 5.09 the past 3 years. So short answer: NO.

 

Not a problem if our offense is going to give him 8 runs of support in his starts (average, not total)...

Good god. As much as I want to see KKKKPat out of here, he's still probabaly twice as valuable as Meche. Ugghhh...I can't believe I said that (but I think its true).

I did hear on ESPN that the Red Sox were hoping that Patterson was going to be non-tendered. I wonder if Hendry can still look into that.
