I say any sport that the outcome is determined by a set scoring system is a sport. Any sport that uses judges (figure skating, gymnastics, cheerleading), not a sport.

Now that doesn't say those "non-sports" are any easier than actual sports, because I have friends who do all of those things, and they work just as hard as football, baseball, or basketball players.

Boxing is not a sport because the outcome is determined by a judge? Okay then.

Correct. It's also why figure skating and most of the Winter Olympics are not sports.

I hate it when people in the lane next to me bowl at the same time. Especially when I'm already set and they just grab their ball and run up and throw it.

I dont consider it a sport. If I get in a fist-fight with someone, am I playing a sport? No, I'm fighting. Boxing is fighting.

But there are rules, and it is scored and officiated. There are no rules if just get in a fight, and you aren't going to be scored or saved by the bell is someone is kicking your behind. Using your logic, races are just running, diving is just jumping in the water and haldf the olympic sports aren't really sports.

And if it's not a sport, then I suppose I ought to be able to just jump right in the ring with some puny little featherweight, and beat him to a pulp. Not gonna happen. I'd get pummeled.

The training alone that takes place makes it a sport. To need to be in physically perfect shape to be able to compete against others makes it a sport.

I can't bear to watch figure skating. To me it's a girly sport. But, I use the word sport because it takes practice to be good at it, there is a physical and skillful competition against others and there is a scoring system to determine who the winner is. Sport!
