He's out of options. There is a chance the Cardinals will have to expose him to waivers this spring. Any takers?

Will he be a pitcher? If so, then yes.

no, as an OF. Apparently he did fairly well once he got it going last year. Certainly he's worth the risk of a waiver claim.

No way. He did well in like low A ball. He's what, 25 or 26? Why waste a roster spot?

He's probably going to get picked up by a team that can afford a project on their roster.

That was in AA over a 34-game span. If I remember correctly, he really struggled at first, got hurt, and when he came back he played really well.

Yes, he's 26. But you really can't hold that against him... because it's not like he's been focusing on hitting and has a 6 year advantage on his peers.

I just don't want him to be claimed and then hear that he's decided to pitch again.

jockety quoted his post injury numbers and he was over .300 BA with 20 hr and 85 rbi (sorry walt didn't provide pertinent numbers). that IsoP is phenomenal! I don't really worry about wasting roster spots.

We're already wasting a whole bunch of roster spots.

Why not sign him and give one of these other schucksters the boot? Come on, you know who I'm talking about. 8)

34 games isn't a big enough sample size to tell.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Brewers pick him up and hope that Maddux can work some magic with him.

He's not pitching any more.

When he is told that his options are signing a $1M contract (just pulling a number out of the sky) or bagging groceries at Wal-Mart I bet he changes his mind in a hurry! 8)

Exactly! If the Cubs were going to have a "project" no the roster they'd just keep Corey.

Just say no to Ankiel!
