From rotoworld:

Tigers agreed to terms with RHP Todd Jones, who had been with the Marlins, on a two-year, $11 million contract.

That's 2 old guys for a lot of $$

What's interesting about the Jones signing is two years ago he struggled to find anyone who'd let him pitch, much less pay him that much change.

Kenny Rogers should probably be more careful around Detroit cameramen, since they're liable to be packing heat.

And the nutty spending continues. Jeez, Illitch wouldn't spend money for a few years and when he opens up the wallet, Dombrowski is throwing it at anybody and everybody.

Detroit HAS to overspend to get people to go there, they should do it on really good players, though.

In fairness to Dombrowski, the last time they did that was Juan Gonzalez. That might be making them a little gun-shy.

Juan played one year (well, a good chunk of it anyway) and turned down the Tigers offer of 100 million, essentially doing them a great favor, though it was not viewed that way at the time.

Juan didn't cost them much money, just a ton of players for a one year rental. They are throwing the money around like crazy now, and on guys that aren't the level of player that Juan was when he was traded for.
