Pinto sort of stings, I always liked that dude. Glad to keep Guzman, Hill, Marshall, and Williams (for now, of course). I'd give them all up for Dunn. But apparently he's going to replace Casey.

Too bad Kinzer f'ed us, Furcal-Pierre would've been really interesting.

I actually think that in a contract year, Pierre will be around his career numbers .305BA/.355 OBP. But I still wouldn't have traded for him. I'd rather have Milton or Wilk. I still wish Furcal was a Cub. Hendry offered a fair deal.

i had kind of come around a bit on furcal, but, at the same time the contract he got from la was crazy.

i hope you're right about pierre playing well in a contract year...hadn't thought about that. but i wonder if it will be a contract year for long...hendry could try and lock him up for a while before the season starts.

Pierre was dinged up quite a bit last year too, I think he'll be a good fit leading off. It's a shame they're bent on giving Walker up, but if it nets Bradley, so be it.

isn't walker for bradley kind of a wash? especially when you consider that neifi could be the 2b? and i don't know why LA would want walker anyway...

i'd have been happy w/ wilkerson + bradley or pierre + abreu/dunn/some other stud. but i don't know if pierre + kearns/bradley/wilkerson is enough...

I can't figure out why the Cubs can't get the concept of two disruptive LH bats at the top of the order. Whoever hits 2nd for this club will not be as patient as Todd Walker. Additionally, they probably won't hit LH and take advantage of the hole on the right side of the infield that should be available 250 times/season if Pierre comes through with a .360 OBP.

The only guy I can think of to fill the void in the 2nd spot is Matt Murton. He actually looks to drive the ball to the opposite field. We all know how highly unlikely that it with Dusty at the helm.

Walker is not that patient. It's a common misconception. In 04, he had a BB/PA over .100, but in 05 he was at .072, that's barely over what Patterson did in 04. In 02 and 03 he was only at .075 and .074 respectively. If he hit his career average of .290 last year, his OBP would have been under .340. Career he's at .081.
