Then Cabrera should be our primary target. I would love to see us get Willis back. I think we have enough picthing prospects to land both. I mean look at what teams were giving away for Castillo, ect. . . Not much. You give florida players like Cedeno, Hill, Pie, Pinto, Nolasco, ect. . You could get Cabrera and Willis. It's Hendry's unwillingness to do that, not our lack of talent to pull it off.

Give me a break, that's just ridiculous. First of all you have no idea what they would want. Secondly, the players they've traded away thus far are either very expensive or aging. Willis and Cabrera are neither.

Again they don't need a bunch of Pinto/Nolasco type prospects. They'll want players who can be absolute studs. They've gotten enough quantity this winter, they want top end quality. Pie is really all we have that fits that mold.

Not to mention florida has actually done quite well in all their trades prospect and payroll dump wise.

I will gladly give up our top 3 prospects for Cabrera.

Pie, Hill, Williams, Walker, and two additional pitching prospects for Cabrerra and Pierre. :D

And we'll pick up everyone's salary for the next two years, if need be.

Won't Florida be in line to take in as much as $30-40m in revenue sharing? Could you imagine if the Cubs took off their last remaining big contracts, then paid for the ones they took back. 25 guys making the minimum would cost them under $10m.

Here's the way I see this: the Marlins now have the most stacked farm system in baseball (yes, I consider their major league team part of their farm system, at least for next season). Willis and Cabrera have insanely high value - probably higher now than they ever will be because of their contracts, and Willis because of his 2005 Cy Young-deserving campaign. So first they say they're not available, but after they've traded everyone else, they say that, "for the right price," they are available. They're just trying to see if someone will bite and pay a completely ludicrous price; because if they do, they'll rid themselves of two potentially big contracts down the road, and get the cream of the crop of two different teams' farm systems. That way, their completely stacked farm system will be EVEN MORE stacked.

So: there's NO WAY they're trading both of them to the same team. If they trade them at all, they will be to two different teams, and they will demand a surplus of top-notch prospects in return.

That said, I'd still try and trade for Cabrera. Never for Willis; he's a pitcher, for one, so he's less likely to be consistent. It's not worth selling the farm for someone who's not gauranteed to produce for you. Cabrera has proven that he can consistently produce at or near the very top level over the course of multiple seasons - and he's still very young. I'd see how far Guzman, Pie, Dopirak, and Hill gets you. Not enough, I don't think, but it's a good first offer.

Give them Iowa and West Tennessee for Cabs and Willis

Edit: And I don't just mean the teams, I mean give them the state of Iowa and Western Tennessee (or just Jackson, TN)

Hmm, move the state of Iowa to south Florida in exchange for Miggy and Willis? SOLD!

How about Williams, Pie, Dopirak, Guzman, Nolassco, and Murton for Miggy

fixed, and they might think about it

Exactly.

I can't believe how much people are undervaluing what these guys could bring. They aren't going to trade them both to the same team, because they couldn't get equal value that way. If they do trade both, they're going to want absolute top of the line quality studs, not a bunch of B prospects.

Ha, yeah Hendry will pull off a trade for Miggy Cabrera, you bet. Unfortunately, Hendry is busy right now salivating over Jock Jones, Joey Gathright, and several other losers while downing his third box of Krispy Kremes on the day.

Talk to the sig.

Hey Pedro, I don't believe us Iowan's would get along with Southern Flordians.

Why, you got something against really old people?

No, I just like to be able to understand the language they speak. Although, Florida supposedly has the highest girl to guy ratio. To bad they're old widows.

Not to toot my own horn, but I did suggest a couple of weeks back that Miggy and Dontrelle could eventually become available.

I would pursue Cabrera over any other player in baseball. Any price that doesn't include Z or Prior, I pay it.

Would I trade Z for Miggy, thats kind of hard, Miggy is probably the most valueable hitter in terms of age, with the exception of Pujols. Carlos could be a Cy Young winner. MVP or Cy Young?

Our entire Farm system and the head of a fatted pig will get this deal done!

I'd trade the entire farm for the for Willis and Cabrera.

Its fun to dream, but lets be realistic, we don't have the talent to pull in those guys.

What I see happening is they both stay. The teams that do have the prospects probably aren't teams that would want to trade all their top guys for one guy because they wouldn't be in a position to win so it wouldn't matter.

The teams that could use Cabrera/Willis to help win probably don't have the farm talent, like us.

The only way I could see us landing one of them (and still this is about .0000000001% chance) is that we send at least 5 top prospects, Pie, Dopriak, Harvey, EPatterson, Guzman, Marshall, Pawelek whomever they want... Patterson would be a good guy to send IMO because he had great success and is far away from having to be put on the 40man, which means longer to arbitration etc. I'm sure they wouldn't want all guys who were a year away.... On top of that you send abou 7-10mil each year for 2 years. Maybe a couple mil the next year too.

You want a second one? Throw in 3-4 more prospects and put another 5mil on top of what you already are giving them

Say we only want Cabrera, throw this out there

Pie, Harvey, EPatterson, Pawelek, Marshall, Pinto, Sing and 8 mil for two years. 2 mil the next year

For

Cabrera, maybe also the crappiest player in their farm system as consaltion so we don't feel so empty afterwards.

Is that worth it?

MAYPBE!

Can you make more trolls who declare Miggy and Willis a cub too.

And Clemens.
