  1. This entire catching the ball situation is ridiculous. Not only do we have the worst offensive OF but also the worst defensive as well. Absolute butchers out there. Soriano needs to be moved in RF. Granted, Murton needs to get his head in the game but he looked more comfortable in LF. Hendry doesn't have the brains to acquire the proper personnel together and now it's costing us.
  2. Both of them are considered the two hot heads on the roster. Both are to blame and both will be disciplined. Barnum and Bailey never left town, they only changed their names to Chicago Cubs. Thank You Jimbo.
  3. How is this directed at Barrett when clearly almost the entire team can't run the bases and none of them can catch the ball? Barrett had a passed ball, but Murton and Theriot had their own share of drops. Soriano constantly gets picked off, so does Barrett and others. Man, the list of players that need to be let go is getting larger and larger.
  4. ugh, no thanks Yeah, I', in the same boat. I bet this is his final year with the Yankees though, and if the Cubs are looking for a GM you know his name will be linked. Cashman? HAHAH no way! The guy is terrible! Look at the contracts and trades he has done in the past, say hell no to Cashman.
  5. Four LF. No CF. No RF. No SS. Two 2B. One catcher that is so bad defensively, that, if he isn't hitting, is one of MLB's worst players. A bullpen full of guys each with his own personal gasoline can. The aggravating thing is that if you look at the individual parts, we have talent. Lee and Ramirez are really good players. Hill, Z and Lilly are pretty good pitchers. Marquis has pitched out of his mind so far. Marshall and Guzman have given the Cubs good starts out of the 5th spot. Murton is a good player working through a slump with erratic playing time. Wuertz has pitched pretty well overall out of the pen, as has Dempster. It's the overall construction of the team coupled with the poor play of a few individuals (Eyre, Ohman, Miller, Barrett and Izturis) and inexplicable in game management by Piniella that has resulted in this suckfest. It boggles my mind that we as fans see all of these issues with this roster but Lou and Jimbo do not. It's almost common sense to get rid of Eyre and bench Izturis but they can't even see it when it's right in front of their faces. There are so many issues with this team that a complete blow up of the roster might actually be a great idea, but too bad a lot of these guys have NTC's and are overpaid. Thank you Jimbo.
  6. And for a team with too many corner outfielders, I still find it funny that they don't have one natural all around great corner outfielder. They all have very large flaws. Exactly! It's a terribly constructed team. Soriano was signed, and it was said he'd play RF. He started off in CF. He's now in LF. There's no real CF on the roster worth playing. Jones is terrible against LHP. Floyd is too fragile to play everyday. Murton is a LF. Pagan should be a 25th man. In a sane world, Jones would have been traded, Soriano would have been put in RF and told to shut up and deal, and Pie should be the CF. Murton and Floyd should be in LF splitting time, and Pagan would be a fine 5th OF. Instead, we get Soriano in LF underproducing and playing really erratic defense, Jones and Pagan playing CF and not producing, and Floyd, Murton and Jones all playing in RF. Our OF costs us about what, $26m per season on average? Are we getting anywhere near value for that money? Not looking at the numbers, I'm assuming we probably have the worst OF in the majors. Poorly constructed team you say? What else is new when you have Jimbo as GM.
  7. Murton hasn't done jack. Neither has Soriano, Jones, Izturis and others.
  8. Yeah, Izturis is so damn good we really need his bat in the lineup. he has a total of 5RBI's. Just to put that to perspective Pie and Cedeno have 4RBIS and they haven't played in God knows how long. The guy needs to be benched immediately and preferably released or moved but Jimbo won't do that to his pet.
  9. I truly believe that Lou and Hendry are totally on a different page. The entire Dempster for 5th starter situation was one of those things and thankfully Hendry won that one. Moving Demp to 5th is a terrible idea. Do the cubs want to fix the pen? get rid of Eyre and move Howry to mop up duty, or get rid of him too. If you're not helping the winning cause then you must go one way or another. Eyre needs to go period. Then, we have the Izturis/Theriot debacle. I know that Theriot is struggling right now but I believe he is the better player. Let's face it Izturis' defense hasn't been that great and we know he isn't that good offensively. How many double plays do we have to see from him? Can he even get a RBI? He only has 5!? 5 the entire year, that is garbage. He needs to go too. Personally, I believe Lou wants Theriot playing SS and Izturis benched but I think he might be feeling pressure to start him from Hendry. Our OF is in shambles right now. Soriano is overrated and overpaid and definitely hasn't even come close to living up to his contract. Murton and Floyd have sucked, so has Jones. We probably have the worst OF in the majors. We are getting jack for production there. granted, Murton's numbers haven't been great but he was in a big slump last year too and he got out of it by playing more. I knew that signing Floyd was a mistake and clearly it has been. The only thing he brings to the table is a sore ankle and a left handed bat. Time to get rid of Jock as well. I was under the impression he would be more productive against righties than Pie would be but he has sucked really bad. get rid of the bum and call up Pie to play CF and call it a day. it's not like we're winning games here with the Jones/Pagan setup.
  10. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/cubs.asp
  11. Bunt for a hit with 2 outs in the 9th but fail miserably.
  12. This reminds me of the time when Juan Uribe yelled foul ball to stop DLee from getting to 3rd base or something like that.
  13. That team meeting really jump started the offense today. They should have them everyday.
  14. That player meeting really helped.
  15. I would gladly take JD Drew and his contract over Soriano and his contract.
  16. Until we hire someone even worse. That is definitely possible, but I'll take my chances at this point.
  17. I'm so sick of this guy! The more I think about the crazy contract he gave Soriano the more I get angry. The guy has been flat out terrible Year after year he assembles mediocre teams with one of the highest payrolls to boot. The sooner he is gone, the better off we will be. Bank on it.
  18. I think we should start a Soriano HR watch thread soon too. Thanks Hendry.
  19. Roy Halladay Cole Hamels Daisuke Matsuzaka, Ben Sheets Rich Hill I would have placed Sheets over Dice-K but he's always hurt these days. Are these the only pitchers you have? I would trade Sheets or Hill for Fielder.
  20. Pierre officially has more RBI than Soriano. Talk about overpaid. And this is Juan Pierre we're talking about.
  21. I'm thinking of dropping Atkins. Talk about a bust so far when you consider what his numbers were this year and where he was drafted. I don't know how much longer I can wait for him. I dropped Atkins in one of my leagues. He is abysmal. I picked up Ryan Braun to replace him. I dropped the guy who put up Top 5 3B numbers last year for a guy who has played 3 games. That's how bad Atkins sucks this year Too bad someone picked up Braun, damn.
