    I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Brackman at 48 if he's still there. Is it true that his velocity went down to the 80's? If so, I would pass considering he would be a project even if his velocity was in the 90's

    I like the fact that it's televised, but I have to agree. At this pace the first two rounds will take 6+ hours. yeah, just crazy.

    I for one am happy that we ended up with Vitters. From what I've read about him the kid is impressive. This is the guy I wanted us to draft and it happened. No complaints here.

    They were saying the same thing about Pawelek being mormon and being a good kid. They were also saying that his arm was electric and was hitting the mid 90's. To me at least, there are similarities there that would make me shy away from taking Parker.

    They also did well in acquiring Joel Guzman for Julio Lugo last year too.

    For some reason I have a feeling most of us will be disappointed. I hope not but that's my feeling right now. They'll either take Parker - who'll end up bombing in the minors - or pull someone out their collective asses (who'll also ending bombing), such as Colvin last year. In meantime Vitters, etc. will go to have successful MLB careers. I think this sounds about right I'm just surprised they would even consider Parker after the Pawelak debacle. But I agree with you, I can see it play out exactly how you posted it.

    Sadly I had already considered Hendry doing something like this. And thankfully there's a great chance this is Hendry's last year.

    I really don't know how good Parker is but he sounds like a risky pick to me coming out of HS at #3. I would love for us to end up with Price, Wieters, or Vitters.

    True, it looked like he was throwing a whiffle ball to Astro hitters that day. I really hope Parker pans out if he "IS" the guy. IIRC high school right handed pitchers have the highest flame out rate of any position picked. I just hope the Cubs catch a break on this pick and the kid pans out. After drafting Pawelak out of HS not too long ago, I'm worried that Parker will share the same fate.
