  1. The Cubs have a black hole at SS this year. Last in the NL with an OPS of 555. And before you say Theriot has turned that around, his OPS at SS is 474. Fontenot doesn't play SS. Neither is "good enough" to make this team better. They are 13th in RF and 12th at catcher. The other positions are middle of the road or near the top. The best way to improve this team is to improve the production they get at SS, RF and C. Since it's going to be impossible to improve at C, the choice is finding a real RF or a real SS. They currently do not have either. There is a chance that when all is said and done that a platoon of Floyd and a revitalized Murton will put them at least to middle of the road at RF. As for SS, they basically have zero chance of getting respectable production out of the group they currently have in the fold. But there's no stat to account for Theriot's scrappiness... 8-[ So you would rather have Izturis start over Theriot?
  2. Anything to keep Izturis out of the lineup. He's that bad.
  3. My buddy who is having surgery for his meniscus tear is out 5-6 weeks.
  4. I'm glad to see the kids finally playing. At least these guys give us a chance to win. Players like Izturis and Jones bring nothing to the table. It's amazing the patience that Pie has shown so far. The organization wanted more patience from him and he did it. That's good to see. Even though Theriot's numbers are down, he clearly is a better player than Izturis and should start every day.
  5. Lou was saying the right things during spring training, and although he isn't Baker-bad with his love for veterans he's close to it. A good manager would not allow Jones or Izturis in the lineup, period. Both of them bring absolutely zero to this team.
  6. Getting Tejada would be huge but who knows if that will happen. As far as the other options are concerned it's probably best we keep Theriot and Fontenot but get rid of the flea Izturis any way possible.
  7. I wouldn't call that worst case scenario. Worst case is Murton doesn't regain his stroke, Floyd scuffles but racks up just enough service time to guarantee his option, and Jones stays. Even if Floyd is great for 2-3 weeks, his chances of reaching those goals are not great. Right, but that's not really the point. The point is this move hasn't solved anything for us, long term. And, in my opinion, makes us worse. I don't know that it made us worse. Murton was not good as a PH, not good without consistent AB's. Jones and Floyd were going to get most of the PT anyway. I don't think the move made the team better (though it is better for Matt), but I don't think it made the team appreciably worse, either. To make this team better you need to get rid of izturis and jones. I just don't see that happening unfortunately.
  8. They better knock in a lot of runs with their gloves, cause our offense sure isn't gonna have much luck scoring any with their bats. why is barrett gettin a few days off anyways? viewtopic.php?t=41457
  9. I'll second that motion! thirded IVed I plead the FIZIFTH 6thed Should we start a petition?
  10. Agreed. I think both of them bring the offense down. Both of their numbers are abysmal and their defense is lacking.
  11. Man, what a terrible lineup if that's the case, especially considering ARam is out.
  12. I don't understand why we didn't bring up Soto over Hill in the first place?
  13. Soriano should have been put in RF and Murton in LF. Soriano has the skill set for RF much more than Murton or Floyd does. Agreed. And signing Floyd was a terrible idea from the get-go.
  14. Another year, another Hendry mess, what do you expect?
  15. Probably best for him to be honest. Too bad we can't get rid of Jones.
  16. Those numbers don't sound so great. Do you by any chance know his stats against lefties?
  17. You're right. I remember them mentioning during a Cubs broadcast how long he took between pitches and how it looked like he was hurt. Bad idea to trade for him when signs were pointing last year that he was hurt.
  18. Why is Hill even here anyway? Wouldn't Soto be a better option than him?
  19. When we stopped letting Jones and Izturis bat.
  20. not related to the last play but this team would be so much better if we get rid of the dead weight on this team. More specifically, Jones and Izturis. Every time I see these guys in the lineup I get frustrated.
  21. The guy has 6rbi, he's the anti-clutch. He sucks.
  22. Yeah, now you take out Izturis Lou? He should never even start.
