  1. ? He has been having a rough time with 3B of late. No but with ARam coming back we can play DeRo and Fontenot at the same time which means no Theriot, or Izturis.
  2. Somebody posted a nice idea regarding the lineup when ARam gets back. Move DeRosa to SS and play Fontenot at 2B. I think DeRo can still play SS.
  3. If Hendry really gave a damn about winning and about this organization he would have resigned long time ago. The guy is terrible! No other organization would stand up for this futility from their GM.
  4. This team is so F pathetic. Words cannot describe how frustrating this team is. Typical Hendry architecture.
  5. That lineup was brutal last night. We better get used to it. The lineup will look a lot better starting on Friday. Aram coming back on Friday? I missed this. You have made me very happy, my friend. Yeah, WGN last night and all the papers have said that Aramis should return Friday. He has been taking fielding drills and batting practice the past couple days with no setbacks. They also said he would probably DH in the Sox series. Good, that's a smart thing to do to ease him back into action, even if it still doesn't produce our best lineup. After the end of the Sox series, I would be asking DeRosa if he can play SS again. Theriot and Izturis have been the exact same player since about May 2nd, and that player has not been a good one. If DeRosa would do that, I don't think our lineup would look that bad: Soriano Pie Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Fontenot Bowen Pitcher Unfortunately, I doubt right now if that's going to happen. I definitely wouldn't complain about that lineup. I agree with you, it gives us the best chance to win, even if Font had to share time with Theriot I would be happy with it. I think we'll be fine as long as Jones and Izturis do not play.
  6. What's absurd is Jacque Jones gets to play here. The guy is having a terrible season and needs to be let go. Addition by subtraction.
  7. We should throw a huge NSBB bash when Hendry is gone. He has done so much harm to this organization it is absolutely ridiculous.
  8. hahahahahha Jacque you are hilarious! He tried to leap frog Wilkerson.
  9. Very slim. And that trade you posted will definitely not get him.
  10. The only argument I can see for this is money. If the ownership issue has frozen the budget at its current value (more or less), then freeing up Barret's money might be one of the only ways to add salary in a trade for an upgrade. There was no money freed up by getting rod of Barret. The Cubs paid for most of his remaining salary. It sounds like they saved about $800,000. Looks like you're right. 1mil minus whatever we owe the new catcher and minor leaguer.

  12. If Sammy makes it in the hall, he will go in as a Cub. Will I root for him getting 600 against us? No. Will I root for him if he gets it against another team? Probably.
  13. So now that we know what the trade is for, how does this trade make our team better? Brewers have been playing very well as of late and if we were to catch them we need to play better ball. The catcher that we got isn't as good offensively as Barrett and his defense,if it is better is not by much. I'm all for making trades to improve the team to compete in the NL Central but this trade doesn't do that.
  14. you would really trade patterson for a 30-something RELIEF pitcher who throws in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball? whose ERA away from Petco is a dazzling 4.51 no less. Where did you get that ERA from? According to Yahoo that isn't right. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6455/splits;_ylt=AnJYlYK1yr9y3DvH6dctqICFCLcF?year=2007&type=Pitching
  15. you would really trade patterson for a 30-something RELIEF pitcher who throws in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball? Linebrink is 30 so he's not that old. His ERA away this year a little above 4 but his 3 year stats away from home look much better. Career away ERA 2.76.
  16. Yup, time to drop him in one of my fantasy leagues.
  17. Not really. He has been complete crap so far in the minors. and he's a teenaged player coming from a region where he faced relatively poor competition in high school. I'm not saying he's a future star, but he does have some tools that the scouts like, and most raw 19 year old players would have been playing at short-season A-ball, not the Midwest League. The fact that he was playing against poor competition might have made him look real good but when compared to other players paying against great competition he might look mediocre. If that's the case there is a possibility that he is in way over his head. I'm sure there is a reason why the Padres gave this guy up. I'm not saying he doesn't have a future but so far his current progress isn't good. Yeah, the reason they gave him up is that he's a guy who's struggling, and there's probably a 95% chance that he doesn't improve enough to become a major league regular. Still, I'd rather the Cubs trade for a high-ceiling player than a middling guy who projects as (at best) a fourth outfielder or utility infielder. We already have enough of those guys. True.
  18. No way that was the trade, no way. The Padres GM would never make that trade.
  19. Yeah, if we got Linebrink I would be happy but that didn't happen.
  20. We've paid for most of Barrett's remaining contract, traded for a cather in which we can probably get the same production in house and also received a prospect who hasn't done squat so far. It seems Hendry made up his mind and he traded him for peanuts but does this improve our team at all? IMO no it does not, and why make a trade if it doesn't improve the team? I hope I'm wrong here but this trade doesn't make sense for us.
