  1. Just another reason to never start Izturcrap over Theriot.
  2. COme on Lee, we're not expecting a homer here, just a base hit.
  3. We can't even dump Jones and his contract, how in the world would we be able to dump Marquis and his contract?
  4. Have you guys noticed that the Cubs' lineup on MLB.com is always one of the later ones to be posted?
  5. I don't believe that. I think it's more of coincidence over anything else. I don't think it's far fetched that Soriano would be a little more motivated playing next to a player he has taken under his wing. I heard that Pie was staying with Zo, at first they were batting next to each other and playing next to each other in the OF. Soriano seemed to pick up shortly after Pie was recalled, and you can't discount the Cubs winning percentage with Pie in the lineup. I was disappointed to see Pie sent down (especially so we could carry 3 catchers). The kid has done everything he could in the minors, and it was time to let him grow into a MLB player. Few rookies come into the league on fire each year, and we could have used his glove and speed in the lineup until the bat warmed up. His average seemed to slip when his PT diminished. And it's not like we have a stellar replacement for him. JJ is worthless this season and Pagan isn't an everyday player. I would love to leave Pie at CF and upgrade C or SS. Problem is, Lou doesn't want that so I feel better having him in the minors getting atbats than rotting on the bench. Pagan and Jones suck but what can we do? The cards have been dealt, at least for the moment.
  6. Talk is cheap. If we are going to play as good as we have been and we're really close to the division or wild card I'm certain Hendry will make a move to improve the team if what he says is true. If we're close and no move is made then we know our answer.
  7. I don't believe that. I think it's more of coincidence over anything else.
  8. I think the chances are pretty good. Especially if he resigns with the Yankees. They are already getting 33 million from the Rangers for ARod.I've heard that if he opts out though they lose that money. I don't know if that's is true just what I heard on the radio.
  9. Do you guys think that ARod will get 30mil per year? I think that's a crazy amount of money to give to one player even of ARod's caliber.
  10. It sounds like that's what the plan is going to be and I'm fine with it.
  11. Unless there's a major shakeup and possibly a trade, I would think that move would wait. They were willing to push their luck for a good 3 weeks talking about the so-called need for 12 pitchers. Now that the entire bullpen is completely rested, I would think they'd be willing to wait another week or two. I think if they really want their 12 man staff, they should just bring down Pie and call it a day. The guy hasn't been playing and it seems Jones isn't going anywhere.
  12. I think you should have stayed put. Figgins is better than Roberts IMO, Papelbon over Rivera and although Sheff has been hot as of late when is his age going to catch up with him? Vlad is more consistent. I believe you downgraded your team.
  13. .185 .275 .287 with nobody on. .238 .272 .345 with RISP. .357 .375 .571 with bases loaded. .333 .364 .476 with man on second. He's also hitting leadoff on a team that is getting a 350 OBP out of the 9 hole. So, he's getting lucky with the timing of his hits and getting a lot more opportunities to hit with men on than he is providing the guys behind him. And this is why I hate Izturis: .283 .336 with nobody on .191 .240 with RISP .125 .125 with bases loaded .178 .221 with men on. Abysmal.
  14. Looks like another group is in the running to purchase the Cubs now. I forgot their name but it was mentioned on the Score and it was a family who made their money through Ameritrade. EDIT: The Ricketts family.
  15. I've heard it on both stations so I know you're not bsing. :)
  16. Just so you guys know I heard the Score report the same thing less than an hour ago.
  17. Moreso than Jason Bay? He didn't say that. I was asking a question who is more of a Zambrano killer.
  18. It could mean they realized they were waiting for HENRY BLANCO to make it back to the team and help things. When Henry Blanco is the hitting savior for the catching situation, something needs to be done. It would be nice to unload Jones and Izturis on some team that would value them based on reputation rather than current abilities, but unfortunately the Cubs can't trade them to themselves. resigning Blanco was a terrible idea from the first place and now he might not even make it back to the majors with his injury.
  19. I'm actually kind of disappointed we don't have any prospects in the top 20. Sure, Pie was up there but other than that we really don't have top prospects that have superstar potential, maybe Vitters but it's too early to tell.
