  1. Sorry, but Cedeno has done exactly jack when he's had his opportunities. If you guys are ripping on Theriot for his numbers how can you not rip Cedeno's numbers? He was also pretty bad defensively in the majors. OK, so he does good in the winter leagues and the minors, then why is he so damn bad when he is with the Cubs? Until he proves he can hit in the majors,it's Theriot's job to lose unless we trade for an actual SS.
  2. Fukudome would be smart to take the Cubs' offer. He will be making more money here and second, I'm sure he wants to show that he can put up major league numbers. If he were to play in Petco for half the games, I think his numbers would look pedestrian.
  3. I don't think Bedard's season was a fluke. He's better than Hill, but his biggest problem is his health.
  4. Pie and Prior for Roberts? Why? If we are going to give up Pie, let's improve the team, not get back another DeRosa with speed to play his position.
  5. Another big factor is the ball park. His numbers would hurt big time in Petco, while playing in Wrigley would help him out offensively and defensively.
  6. I'd think that OBP would at least be .15 points higher. If that's what kind of numbers he's projected at, I say we throw a good prospect and Murton for Teahen then.
  7. This definitely strengthens their bullpen.
  8. Interesting. Too bad Hendry wouldn't go for it
  9. That's ridiculous if true. Trade for Teahen and Tejada, hold onto Pie and call it a day.
  10. These are the moves I would love to see: Get rid of Marquis Get rid of Dempster Trade for Bedard Trade for Tejada Trade for Teahen Sign Fukudome Obviously, I doubt all of these things will happen but I think each one is a step in the right direction.
  11. Too bad, but we all know Hendry would never go for him due to his anger problems which is terrible since he would be such and upgrade for us.
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=winter_meetings 12:40 p.m., from Jerry Crasnick • The Cubs are talking to former Pirates GM Dave Littlefield about joining the organization in an advisory capacity. Littlefield was fired by Pittsburgh this season and replaced by Neal Huntington. Do we really want Littlefield joining the org?
  13. You're right. Trading for Roberts doesn't make any sense. Go after Tejada or Bedard if you are going to trade with O's.
  14. If we're giving up Marmol and our other top prospects, I'd rather make a run for Bedard or even Tejada. DeRosa's numbers are almost identical to BROberts not factoring the SB's of course, so why give prospects for a guy that we have doing a good job at 2B?
  15. Interesting. So the Red Sox are probably trading Ellsbury to the Twins for Santana and then are going to try and sign Fukudome to replace him, just great.
  16. If the Royals win the Fukodome sweepstakes than maybe we will see Teahen.
  17. Sign Fukudome for CF, trade Murton and Fox for Teahen, trade Pie and others for Bedard, and then call it an offseason. :D If that could happen I would go nuts ha ha.
  18. Even if we sign Fuko, I would do a Murton, Fox swap for Teahen but I believe BMiles when he says the Royals are not looking to move Teahen.
  19. It worked out well last year. This year probably not so much. It did? An ERA near 5 and a WHIP of almost 1.4 is working out well? It worked out well for about 1 month(April) and then it was all downhill from there Yes, they may not be sexy numbers but they are still very decent numbers for a back of the rotation pitcher. Marquis is terrible. I'd rather give that rotation spot to one of the kids making peanuts. And to top it all off they probably will be better than an overpaid Marquis. Terrible contract. Marquis is not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. I'm sure that almost every team in the NL would have loved to have their 4th or 5th starter put up the numbers he put up last year. Just for fun take a look at other teams complete rotations, and compare them to the numbers Marquis put up last year. Is Marquis great? Not even close, but he is not terrible. Marquis is terrible, period. You can believe what you want but the fact remains Marquis sucks. Have you even seen how bad he was down the stretch? Look at his numbers the year before, the guys SUCKS. Try looking up his stats. He was above average for a back of the rotation starter last year. I know his stats. When you consider his numbers and his salary, there is no way he's good for anything.
  20. Why would anyone? Same reason Meche and Guillen signed with them, the extra money.

  23. Very odd, and indeed if that were the case, we got him for sure.
