  1. I'm sure the Orioles would be interested. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, and Cedeno for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal We might have to give a bit more, but its not too far off a win win. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, Cedeno, and Dempster for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal There's no way I do that deal if I was Baltimore. That would sure help them start the rebuilding process. I don't think its all that lopsided. Bedard is a poor man's Santana and Pie/Gallagher is a poor man's Kemp/Kershaw (Gallagher being a really poor man's Kershaw, but who isn't?). If I'm Balt. Although, I'd rather do Bedard for either Kemp or Kershaw straight up (by a lot). Marshall, Cedeno, Dempster + Patterson or another pitcher isn't a bad haul for Tejada. Its sure not a proposal that gets the phone hung up. Bedard was a top pitcher last year until they shut him down towards the end of the year. I think you are overvaluing Pie and Gallagher's value. Baltimore would be stupid to trade Bedard for that package.

  3. I don't know if this was posted but it seems we only get a player back if they can sign Monroe to less than what he was getting last year. http://www.startribune.com/twins/story/1549048.html I'm just glad he's gone.
  4. Well, you can't blame the Trib for not giving him enough money to work with. Unfortunately, Hendry just doesn't know how to spend it wisely.
  5. He just turned 26. Guys who are currently just 26 tend to become a little more than what they have been before that age. I would guess he could easily morph into a 25-30 HR hitter, given his age, and he could very easily surpass 30 once or twice in his career. His OBP is AVG driven, and that's his biggest weakness. I'm not sure why anybody would flinch at trading "anything of high value". I wouldn't throw the farm at him, no way. Cabrera is the type of franchise player you throw the farm at. But there's nothing wrong with giving up considerable value for a guy like Crawford. If the Cubs are thinking about trading Hill for Crawford, they may also be thinking about signing a free agent pitcher to take Hill's place in the rotation. What would you guys choose? Crawford, and Silva or Hill, and Fukodome? This is of course hypothetical.
  6. Awesome! He shouldn't have been here in the first place but I'm happy that he's gone now.

  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3106431 OK, that isn't too bad. We still save money on the deal.
  9. Tulowitski was really good but even with his def. deficiencies Braun deserves it. To put up numbers like that as a rookie is utterly amazing.
  10. BWAHAHAHAHAH. So not only do we trade Jones for Infante but we are also giving money to the deal? WTF!?
  11. I believe they can sign with their own team until midnight and after that it's wide open.
  12. We really don't know who really is the bad guy when it comes to the ARod contract but considering how demanding Boras is and how he was talking up his client I will side with the Yankees on this one. They made it clear they would not negotiate if ARod opted out. Nobody is going to give ARod 350million and if they do, they are idiots.
  13. No chance he takes over DeRosa's spot. Matsui will take over DeRosa's spot. Even Hendry can't be that dumb to replace DeRo with Matsui.
  14. I HIGHLY doubt this guy was signed to take over DeRosa's spot. He will either take over for Theriot or be a really expensive backup.
  15. Wow, I would expect something more professional from SI.com.
  16. These moves are not OK, period. Where is the upgrade? Is Matsui such an upgrade over Theriot? Nope, they both are mediocre. Matsui's numbers away from Coors are brutal. Luis Gonzalez? Luis? Signing Luis to any contract is another terrible idea. We should look to upgrade this team not make it worse. Btw, considering Hendry is about to swap Jones for Infante, I can definitely see how Matsui and Luis could be our top 2 targets, Hendry is that bad.
  17. Omar Infante? WHY!? Hendry never ceases to amaze me.
  18. Thanks for posting. Very informative.
  19. I think this is a really good deal for the Phillies. Now they can move Myers to the rotation and have Hamels and Myers as a 1-2 punch. With their offense, I think they will be a very good team.
  20. Let's hope that happens because Dempster to the rotation is a terrible idea.
  21. I would prefer Silva over Marquis and Dempster for sure. I think he can actually be very good. He has crazy movement on his fastball.
  22. That's the only course of action that could salvage this "plan" in my opinion. Moving Demp to the rotation and trading Marquis still makes us worse. At least Marquis occasionally will pull a cg shutout out of his butt. You think Dempster could ever do that? Horrible, horrible idea. I think Dempster could, at the very least, come very close to equalling what Marquis gives you. And since Dempster is only signed through this year at $5m, and Marquis is signed through 2009 at $16.25m, trading Jason and replacing him with Marquis could improve the team. The problem, as I see it, is Hendry's ridiculous contract to Marquis is going to be darn near untradable. They will have to eat something. A team like Boston or NY isn't going to have a use for a guy like Marquis. I don't think they believe subpar NL Central pitchers will thrive in the AL East, and even if they wanted one. And any smaller team that might be willing to settle for such crap, isn't going to accept paying all that salary. Actually, I think Marquis will give you better numbers than Dempster in the rotation. I'm expecting an ERA over 5 from Demp.
  23. That also doesn't include the BS he spewed about Marquis and most wins in baseball the past 2 years or something stupid like that when he signed him. I can't wait for the day that Hendry is fired. It's obvious he has been learning on the job and not learning much. I used to think he was the worst GM in MLB but now Sabean is giving him a run for his money. Both are bad, really bad.
  24. What do you expect him to say? "He's been average at best and we're trying to salvage something out of Dempster"? I expect him to not put him in the rotation.
  25. From CS.com: "We've talked to Dempster about starting," Hendry said Tuesday at the general managers meeting. "Lou [Piniella] talked to him at the end of the year about it. I think Dempster prefers to be a starter. We're talking about a guy who won 15 games as a starter and went to an All-Star Game in that role. We think he will be able to contribute to our rotation." Talk about typical Hendry. Some of his logic is so skewed it's simply amazing that he's still in baseball.
