    Soriano is the type of player that is really frustrating to watch and this year was no different. I hated the contract so much. In hindsight signing Carlos Lee would have improved the team more IMO.

    Once-in-a-generation players are going to cost you. If he was 28, I would agree but isn't he 32 already? At some point his numbers will start to decline.

    Giving ARod 7-10 years for 30 million/yr is absurd. I don't care how good he is, that contract would be terrible.

    I'm not opposed to this. Too bad most of the big contracts the fool gave out can't be traded. At least if we lose 99 games or so we are bound to draft high and finally come up with a superstar.

    I agree. I could almost see the Cubs and Blanco coming to a buyout decision with Henry moving into some sort of coaching position, possibly instructing minor league catchers or as a bullpen coach. I would definitely settle for that sort of $700,000 catching situation, if it means investing millions in a real bat elsewhere. I doubt that happens. The Cubs are stuck with Blanco, period. You won't see any buyouts at a discounted price.

    I don't see the Cubs signing Kendall. It's obvious the Cubs want Soto as their starting catcher and they already have the worthless Blanco locked up for next year. Kendall walks which is fine with him because he wouldn't accept a backup role anyway.

    I don't understand the fascination with Fukudome. Most of his numbers are worse than Iwamura's, and Iwamura's production out of a right fielder is poor. Add in to that due to this build-up he seems in line to get a rather risky and pricey contract, I have to agree with Nancy Reagan, just say no. Aside from the fact that he is a good ballplayer...re-read his name. His jersey would be a top seller. :lol:

    There is no doubt that there was a dark spot on the bill of the hat. I was watching the game on HD and it was clearly visible. I thought for a second it might have been a substance he was using but didn't think anything of it because I personally didn't see him go to it a lot.

    Kendall doesn't deserve to start if you ask me. WHo cares who is a rookie or a veteran, start the player that gives you the best chance to win and that's Soto.

    I'm okay with that, as long as that means that Traschel gets bumped down. There is zero chance that Trachsel is or was ever going to be on the playoff roster. I don't know why anyone was worried about this. Has this been confirmed? I haven't kept up with the playoff roster, so I'm not exactly sure who's on it, to be honest with you. Has it been confirmed by anyone saying something? I'm honestly not sure. Has it been confirmed because Trachsel is pretty much complete garbage and never once did anything remotely redeeming in his month or so here? I'd say so. If Marquis has barely made the roster how will Trachsel make it? In this instance, I don't think we need assurances from anyone to know that a garbage pitcher like Trachsel will be off the roster.
