  1. Funny that Levine almost said the same identical things about 30 min ago on espn1000.
  2. Wow. Not what I would have done, but at the same time, maybe it's for the best.
  3. It's apparent the Cubs don't view Patterson as a viable second baseman any longer, and as a LF, I'm less than enamored with him. I'm not upset over losing him. Murton- I hate to give him up as I think he has skills that our team could use. He doesn't really have a position. I can give him up as well. Gallagher- This is the one that hurts. I'd love to replace him with Veal, Hart, or Marshall. Guzman- meh. At one time what could we have gotten for him? He's damaged goods. All in all, it's not a horrible deal on our part. Essentially, Murton + Gallagher for Roberts. I'd rather choose another target than Roberts if we're trading Gallagher though. That's my thought on it as well. Why give up so much for Roberts, why not explore at other options which might make more sense.
  4. but who would pinch run after lou exhausts all of our position players??? Rich Hill is a really good athlete ;)

  6. According to espn1000(levine) 60 million dollar contract.
  7. Who cares what we get back in return for Marquis, as long as we don't have to give up more money.
  8. Wow, so Ken Williams didn't get anyone to play CF.
  9. DeRosa has about the same OBP as Roberts did. Roberts will cost us top prospects and more salary will be added to get him. There's also talk about Roberts being a roid-user. I think an argument can be made about Roberts over DeRosa.
  10. Here's one reason why: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2609699 Some of baseball's biggest stars responded with denials and denunciations Sunday following a Los Angeles Times report in which former pitcher Jason Grimsley accused five players of using performance-enhancing drugs, according to a federal agent's affidavit. The other players cited were Baltimore teammates Brian Roberts and Jay Gibbons. Gibbons already went down, and maybe Tejada will be on the Mitchell report. Maybe? I think it's the lock of the century. I'm not that interested in post-juice Tejada. I think he's definitely trending downward. And how about a post-juice Roberts? Stay away Cubs.
  11. I know I've mentioned it many times, but Roberts only gives us more SBs over DeRo and that's it. The amount of prospects we would have to give up for him is not worth. It would be best for us to go a different direction.

  13. I just tried it and didn't have any problem loading the page. Working again. Interesting that he goes to the Astros. He will be an improvement for them but I don't think they have the pitching to compete anyway.
  14. I don't even bother reading Sullivan anymore. Overly negative, and he writes his thoughts in a way to make it seem like these events are really happening. I wouldn't be surprised if no one in the Cubs organization likes him. He's terrible.
  15. Link isn't working any longer.
  16. All of this is incorrect. All of it. Hendry even came out once in 2004 or 2005 and ripped Prior for coming out of a game when "nothing was wrong with him". They waited until 2007 (!) to have his shoulder properly examined and operated on. I'd like to see this ripping that was done by Hendry. Also, Prior is a smart man and I'm sure he could have had his shoulder looked at on his own if this was the case. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of talk that Prior was using his own doctors and got the same word as the doctor's representing the Cubs. He tried to do everything to keep away from having surgery and it obviously backfired on him and the Cubs.
  17. I won't boo him at all. The Cubs treated him like garbage. I think it went both ways. And I think Prior wanted out of Chicago long before the Cubs lowballed him in contract talks last offseason. ha, how did they lowball him? He only pitched 43 innings in 2006. Didn't he ask for a raise in arbitration and ended up settling for a bit of a pay cut? Then he got his money last year and ended up pitching 0 innings for us and went under the knife. I don't see that as being lowballed at all.
  18. There certainly is a lot of smoke to the idea that Piniella wants Jason Marquis gone. Let's hope man, let's hope.
  19. Damn, this feels so good. No more seeing JJones K on a pitch in the dirt or see him spike the ball in the grass. He probably had a hand in destroying the outfield with all of his spikes.
  20. Can't complain there. Marshall, Gallagher and others I think would be better than Marquis, the guy sucks.
  21. Didn't Hendry want Burnett for quite some time now? I've heard about that back when he was with the Marlins. I know he's injury prone but he's no Prior. He's actually pitched 509 innings since 2005, how many innings has Prior pitched since that time?
  22. Pay him to see if you can get 3-4 months of quality pitching out of him this season, and then see what you can do about resigning him next offseason. It sounds like he doesn't want to be a Cubs anymore, so why pay for his rehab only to see him leave through FA? What is risky and might work out in our favor is to pay his rehab hope he shows that he can pitch very well then trade him before the deadline when his value is real high. I think that's too risky though and I don't think the Cubs will do that.
