  1. I would do a Crisp for Marquis swap or a Demp for Crisp swap.
  2. Yeah but teams are looking at them and not signed them yet and they wouldn't offer any of them a two year 7 mil contract which is what Marquis still has left.
  3. I doubt that did you see the contract Carlos Silva just got? Crappy innings eaters cost 10 mill a year minimum in today's market. You're not gonna get a top level prospect for him but someone would take him. If that's the case then why is he still here? Nobody wants Marquis.
  4. And that's when you know it's time to walk away... The Cubs won't walk away cause they need to "WIN" now and it seems that this has to be the year!!! The only way I see the "O's" even considering taking Marquis is if the Cubs are willing to pay most of his Salary. Why would the "O's" who are in the midst of trimming salary and taking players who will be in their control for the next 2/3 yrs take Marquis and pay his salary. Its going to be interesting to see how this all plays out in the next couple of weeks as the Bedard deal should be announced either today or tomm. I would say that if Roberts were to be dealt it would be quick but with the way the Bedard deal dragged out who knows ;) I agree. It would be stupid of them to even consider taking Marquis. No GM wants Marquis. The only fool to give him 21mil was our very own.
  5. Dawson was awesome. Does anyone have the video when he snapped and was throwing things all over the place in the dugout and onto the field?
  6. Before MacPhail the Orioles were a disaster and now that MacPhail is on board they are worse off than before. What a joke their organization has become.
  7. If the Roberts deal happens, DeRosa becomes the #1 option to play SS, IMO. Probably the weakest of the 3 defensively, but the big boost on offense makes it a no brainer for me, especially considering none of them sparkle on defense. I don't think management has the confidence in letting DeRo play at SS but if I had a say I'm definitely all for it. Too bad my say doesn't mean squat :)
  8. If true, I hope it's not Pie for Roberts and Byrd for Murton and Gallagher. I can see Hendry do something stupid like that
  9. Neal Cotts is getting paid 800k? Wouldn't it be wise just to waive him and not pay?
  10. As a Red Wings fan I have to tell you there was a very good reason that the Wings had absolutely no interest in resigning Lang after this season. Dave Tallon has done a terrible job signing free agents. Almost all of them if not all have been huge letdowns, especially Khabibulin. Instead of signing Lane and some other smalltimer centers they should have opened up the checkbook and signed one of the top 3 centers available this past offseason.
  11. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/01/dotel-ramirez-s.html Doesn't it seem like everyone knows what Ken's moves will be before they become official?
  12. I wouldn't give up Murton for Byrd. We'll see how things play out.
  13. And Phil Rogers has a source that says we are trying to get Bedard and Roberts. The deal would include Pie among others. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/01/fast-food-for-t.html Who knows what to think anymore.
  14. But he did mention Fukudome would be comfortable in the 2 spot as well.
  15. yeah just saw that on NHL.com, it was ridiculous. although I'd say Toews' goal was better. :) that's b/c you're a hawks fan. the nash goal was definitely the better of the two. ovechkin's goal from a couple of years ago (i think) is the best i've seen in quite some time. Both are very similar but I will give an edge to Nash's goal.
  16. Lou was interviewed on cs.com and he made it seem that there will be no deal with the O's. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080118chicago_cubs_convention_brian_roberts,1,5989195.story?coll=cs_tab01_layout
  17. very good read. Man, crazy about the story of Hendry going to the 2nd hospital. As far as Prior is concerned, it was pretty obvious Hendry was fair with Prior and Prior didn't want any part of the Cubs anymore. I'm actually glad that Prior is gone, he's dead to me and I actually feel really good about it. I was so sick of the small little faith I had in him coming back and dominating, no longer. I've been fooled too many times by him and glad the Cubs parted ways and moved on.
  18. I think it was funny when North mentioned both Colvin and Pie and Hendry said that Colvin can hit both right and left handed hitting. He definitely didn't say that about Pie. North is a tool but I will give him props on asking the peoples he's interviewing the tough questions. He completely chewed out Paxson this week.
  19. Wouldn't you guys have rather seen this guy over Leiber as a Cub?
  20. Really, trading Hill and Colvin for Roberts and Bedard doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Bedard is about to get very expensive soon. The only way Bedard coming here and it being beneficial is if Z, Lilly, and Hill stay in the rotation.
  21. Maddux' numbers would look pretty good about now. Nah, do you remember how bad Maddux was for us right before we got rid of him? Isn't he still making over 10mil? No thanks, he's had a lot of help playing in large stadiums.
  22. I highly doubt it. Roberts would have been traded yesterday then. I don't think we get Roberts.
  23. I like Lieber over Dempster but I would have had Marshall or Gallagher over the both of them.
  24. He will be better than Dempster but IMO he still won't be good enough to warrant us signing him.
