  1. Getting Burnett would be a really good move for the WSox.
  2. I woudl give them two top prospects for him. He would make a huge difference. If we make a move I would like to see Dunn or Huff. Nothing else really out there IMO.
  3. Per ESPN 1000(Bruce Levine) Dunn to be traded in the next few days. There has been speculation that the Astros have a package ready to trade for Dunn. Boy, will I be pissed if that happens.
  4. It's a tough decision to make. If I was in a situation where I had to choose from US or Greece it would be a difficult one.
  5. I agree, but there is still that glimmer of hope. And that glimmer is brighter than in several years past, because the talent on this team is so much greater than it's ever been in my lifetime. Of course, they will have to catch several breaks, including at least one team that is currently playing well to fall on its face. I think there is that glimmer of hope, and that is the pitching staff. I am not saying this will or even is likely to happen, but with our starting staff, we have on of the only teams who could realistically reel off 10 straight or 12 of 13, etc. That is of course provided that the offense continues the approach we saw them adopt in the Florida series, or we may see another eight game losing streak, which they are equally capable of. Sorry, but when was the last time we won 10 straight? I cant even remember the last time we did that and def never since Baker has been manager. We never had the offense to win 10 straight even with our pitching.
  6. In the paqst month Furcal has been hitting at a .319 clip. Hes been good for a couple of years now so I think if anything this year is an anomaly.
  7. Dunn in a lineup is a difference maker. Let's also not forget who the players around him are. You fit Dunn in the middle of Lee and ARam and you will see even better numbers.
  8. It is great having Hairston and Walker at 1-2, but please don't overlook how the whole lineup's OBP has improved over the last three games. You are right. As a whole our lineup is hitting MUCH better but I'm glad to see Hairston and Walker at the top. All of us knew those two should have been at the top but because they play the same positions it was almost impossible. Now that Corey is in the minors what was an impossibility has come to fruition.
  9. Hairston and Walker are clearly the guys we needed at the top of the order for this club to succeed. I hope Corey finds himself out in AAA but having Hairston and Walker both as everyday starters is exactly what we need. We would be foolish to trade Hairston, because he is the leadoff hitter we have been searching for since Lofton left. Chances are, if Corey is not traded he will be out CF next year which means we will be back to square one. If that is the case I would prefer for us to keep Hairston at 2B and not pick up Walker's contract for next season. It's not because Walker isn;t good because quite the opposite is true, but We need that leadoff hitter and I think Hairston is our answer. I know that Hairston's baserunning hasn't been that great and his defense has been below par but I think those things can be corrected.
  10. I hope that if Dunn is available that Hendry will make a run for him. I don't know that we don't have more to offer than the Dodgers. I guess the Dodgers could create a package that includes Edwin Jackson, Andy LaRoche or Joel Guzman. Dioner Navarro might interest the Reds as well. Additionally, I hope that Hendry realizes that the FA market is extraordinarily thin this year. While the Cubs may not have a realistic shot of the playoffs, it doesn't mean they shouldn't start making themselves better for next year. If that means grabbing a guy like Dunn should the opportunity present itself, then thats what has to happen. Like it or not, the OF is still in shambles, particularly when you look at 2006. Burnitz runs way too hot and cold for my taste. Plus, I don't think he is worth his option. I might consider him at a reduced rate, but that still isn't making the club better. IMO, it is incumbent that the Cubs realize the shortcomings of this team now and start addressing them. Otherwise, selling Z for a bat and chasing Burnett (as someone had mentioned) may be the only way to make a significant offseason move. I agree. We should trade for our OF of the future. The free agent crop this year isn't great at all.
  11. Rusch sucks as a relief pitcher, but I've mentioned that on his last 3 appearances so it's nothing new.
  12. OK, I fully expect Hairston to be our every day 2B next year. He's our leadoff hitter that we need. He needs some polish but you can see the man gets on base.
  13. Glad to see the unlucky one is still playing despite the fact that he's horrible. At least Baker seems to have finally changed the top of the order. But seriously, why is Neifi still our everday SS??? Better lineup but still, I'm starting to really get sick of watching Neifi play. Of course tomorrow everything will be back to normal because Holla and Neifi will be playing.
  14. Sounds like it to me. You can only blame the staff so much.
  15. Perez needs to be benched. It's that simple. Cedeno needs to play because we need to find out what we have in him before Nomar comes back. Hendry do us all a favor and get rid of Baker-boy.
  16. I'm totally certain this is why Baker has to go. His stubborness really irritates me. Him and his damn veteran mentality. I can't stand it anymore.
  17. Obvioulsy we cant expect this every day but I like what I'm seeing from him no doubt.
  18. Good stuff. Time to bench Neifi and start Cedeno.
  19. Wow, Cabrera is a good hitter and all but he looks lazy out there.
