  1. Smoltz might have his career high K night tonight.
  2. There is no right personnel to leadoff on this team. Why is he still putting Walker 5th? To protect ARam? ARam's slump ended a month ago. Ideally you would want Hairston and Walker up front but unfortunately they play the same position. Although having Hairston in CF over Corey is probably better for this team right now.
  3. Our lineup would be at least a bit better if Dusty started placing the right personnel in the 1 and 2 spots of the lineup.
  4. Let's hope your prediction comes true. I for one would celebrate if that happened. There's the post of the year. Hoping for a Cub loss. I hate Perez, but I don't hope he goes 3 for 55 just so he might sit. Hoping for a loss is just as bad as players quitting. Hoping for one loss which would cause Baker to be fired would be a godsend for the fans and players of this team.
  5. Let's hope your prediction comes true. I for one would celebrate if that happened.
  6. Here's what I don't get about the obsession with the number of pitches a player sees per AB. Nomar has been one of the best hitters in the league over his career, and yet swings at everything, if Neifi Perez takes 2 pitches before he makes his out it's still an out. Fact is he just can't hit, so does it matter if he grounds out on pitch 1 or 8? I'm not convinced it does. I do however think that several players swing at a bunch of bad pitches and they are not good enough hitters to make up for poor pitch selection. If the Cubs took some pitches I highly doubt Ramirez would be able to finsih the game. How many 1 and 2 pitch at-bats did we see today? It's ridiculous. Changes need to be made right now, for the sake of respectibility.
  7. Actually, with this team it is believable :)
  8. he's been solid his whole career, and you can't really compare ERAs in the AL to those in the NL. regardless, advocating trading prior for buehrle is ridiculous. Solid , yes, no doubt but not the best in baseball.
  9. OK, so Buerhle is having one good year and all of a sudden he is the best pitcher in baseball? Last year he had an era close to 4 and the year prior to that one he had one over 4.
  10. Firing Dusty would be a big start in the right direction.
  11. We're not even close to being a playoff team.
  12. This is ridiculous. Something needs to be done.
  13. Perez was good for us in the beginning but I'm getting sick of him.
  14. You're right. Baker should be slammed repeatedly for placing incompetent hitters in front of Lee. But using that as the only reason for this year's failure thus far is shortsighted. The bullpen has at least 15 losses this year, just like it's important for the 1-2 hitters to get on base, it's also important to have Burnitz, Holla/Dubois and Barrett get on base too. Also, our starters haven't been consistent. So, outside of the stupid lineups with Patterson and Perez at the top, most of the problems are players not performing. I dont believe it's all Baker's fault but he is a huge part of it. The lineups for one, and the fact that he is stubborn. Some of the players are at fault as well, and frankly our pitching hasn;t been as good as other years.
  15. It will be interesting to see what the lineup is today.
  16. Sorry, but I don't believe that. When you have a manager putting guys in the 1 and 2 hole that have an OBP of less than .300 inf front of arguably the best hitter in baseball as of right now, yeah it's the manager's fault. Neifi, Corey, Macias have no business being on the top. Also, you have a SS who completely killed AAA ball yet he isn't even starting. I would venture to say that most of the managers would have probably given him more time to play than Dusty.
  17. Jerry & Dubios beat Darren in Risk last week, so Darren told Dusty to bench them until they let him win... Actually, I wouldnt be surprised if that wasnt too far away fromt he truth. Baker probably consults with Darren over the lineup.
