I personally cannot deal with having Neifi as the starter. I dont care who we sign or trade for having Perez here and starting when last year we had options like Nomar, Walker, and Cedeno is a bad idea.

Are they planning on starting him?

Yeah man he's bad. I just can't believe that these moves are actually taking place. What the heck is going on? No other GM would bring back Rusch and Macias. We'll probably be notified next that Hednry will give a 4year deal for 2mil per to Macias to be our super sub.

I'd kill for Castillo if it blocked Neifi from regular playing time. The scary thing is this may be the proverbial robbing Peter to pay Paul. If Castillo comes to the Cubs I think that means they couldn't sign Furcal and guess who slides over to the SS spot? Maybe Walker goes to Flordia, thus eating a little bit of Castillo's salary. The Hendry will have his 2 speedsters in the 1-2 spots. The part I don't understand is this. Hendry knows Perez wants to be a starter and it's in Hendry's character to be straight up about things like this. This is why I think Perez will be starting at 2B or SS for the Cubs or another team if he is eligable to be traded. Then I guess we're stuck with him. Great. I'm not going to crucify Hendry until I see how this plays out, but I'm certainly not optimistic about all of this. Unless this is part of a very good plan that no one can possibly predict, this is just not a good signing. Are you serious man? What more do you need to see to finally realize Hendry has a jockstrap for a brain? He signed not one but two mediocre players to be back on this roster. Who the hell is Neifi Perez to get a 5mil contract? We have Cedeno that could do anything that Neifi can but better. This is a terrible move. Typical Hendry. I have lost all faith in this man. Him and his personal clown Dusty. You can add the money he gave Rusch and Perez to get a really good relief pitcher. What are these clowns thinking? These are the type of moves I feared going into the offseason and now I know why. Hendry has no gameplan and he is signing the mediocre players we had last year to be back this next year. What a farce.

I personally think that Grossman is more talented but he can't stay healthy. It will be an interesting situation when Grossman comes back. At the very least I expect open competition come next year between the two.

Signing Morris is a terrible move anyways. He lost velocity and wasn't all that great at the end of last year.

Is this a different meeting than the Winter meetings?

I do know that in 2004 Mench had the 2nd most homers per amount of ABs. First being Bonds.

I like Kevin Mench but he is no Brian Giles and wouldn't make an impact as much as Giles either. If Giles can't be had Mench would be a good backup plan.

Imagine Baltimore having Sosa one year and Thomas the next? Where old faded Chicago stars go to embarrass themselves. If healthy I think THomas can still be effective, chances are Sosa cannot.

That rotation would be, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the best in the game. Do you have any idea how many teams would like to have Greg Maddux as their fifth-best pitcher, even an over-the-hill Maddux? I'm practically drooling just at the thought of this rotation. Of course, kowing our luck there's still the chance of Burnett, Prior and Wood crashing each others' cars together and all breaking their pitching arms beyond repair or something like that. :lol: :lol:

I think the 4th year will be a lot of cash and possible buyout. This is a very lean year for free agents and I think that Burnett is about to take advantage of that. He's a better pitcher than Pavano too. Yeah, in retospect I should have said 4/48. Just something to keep in mind. Imagine having that 3mil Rusch just got and put that towards Burnett. 10 mil or 13 mill a year it wouldn't matter. If this is indeed true why in the heck did we sign Rusch? It makes no freaking sense.

I don't see any way that is possible. I agree. I really don't see anything historically or culturally significant about Busch Stadium. Wrigley Field is baseball. Yeah, I think the fans will enjoy it. You said it wont be 100% complete until mid-season are they going to play the games there or some place else in the beginning of the season? I hate to say it, but I agree. Looking forward to taking a trip to St. Louis to check the new place out after it's 100% complete (sometime mid-season). Thank goodness they went with an open air ballpark and not some retractible roof goofiness like Miller Park. Also glad to see they're not installing stupid things like all the gimicks at Minute Maid or Petco.

I would love to have Burnett here but at what expense? If it means a weak OF again no thanks, but if we somehow can get Furcal, Giles, Burnett hey that will be great but I doubt that will happen. Proceed with caution.
