  1. Jeez! 5/70, with a team option in the 6th for 16m, and a 5m buyout. That makes it a 14.3m per if you pick up the option, 15m per if you don't pick up the option. What is so freaking hard about that deal that is couldn't have been done a week ago? If Aramis gets pissy about it, make the six year a mutual option or a vesting option. I don't like the direction this is going. I'm worried because this is starting to look like another Hendry failure.
  2. Wouldn't that be crazy if LA ended up with Aramis? Wow.
  3. Foulke had a 4.35 era last year and I honestly don't believe he will be making close to 4mil so it's surprising he declined it.
  4. To me it seems that Hendry hasn't made it a priority to resign Aramis. Why are they waiting until next week to discuss a contract? This should have been done long ago. The biggest regret the Cubs will make is allowing a clown like Hendry to stay as GM as the entire organization was getting cleaned out.
  5. And Sheffiled ain't the player he once was, and his injury in 2006, willprolly be a precursor to a down yr in 2007. And Floyd would be a better (and atleast chepaer) option for the #4 or #5 in rotation, over guys like Aaron Small, Carl Pavano, and Jaret Wright. Agreed. I don't like the idea of getting Sheffield. He's old as hell, he's grumpy and now that he's off the cream most likely means his numbers will be inline with a baseball player as old as he is. Sign JD Drew over trading for Sheffield.
  6. I agree with others that Drew is probably the better option in CF, a position that Drew apparently prefers to play. CF or RF doesn't matter to me as long as we sign him :)
  7. I think they would also need to pick up one of the many 2b options available this offseason also. The list is long at that spot: Soriano Kent Durham Giles Loretta Lugo Walker Iwamura I'd be very happy with Loretta, Lugo or Giles if we sign Drew and move Jacque to CF.
  8. Get Drew, move Jacque to CF and resign ARam and I would be happy with this offense.
  9. I hope he opts out and we sign him.
  10. Absolutely. It can't get any worse than Baker and his regime.
  11. Why? He built a team, and that team stinks. What's the point in bringing up good moves? He's not a bad GM because he made a bad move or two, and he wouldn't be a good GM if he made a good move or two. He's a bad GM because he's built an horrendous baseball team. There's a lot to not like in Hendry. He overpays for mediocrity, he doesn't value OBP, his catch the ball mentality is absurd, and he doesn't fill glaring holes when needed. He hasn't done squat since early 2004 and didn't adjust the ball club when we needed holes to fill to make a run in 2004. He just doesn't know how to properly put a team together it's that simple.
  12. I would be shocked if we end up with Matsuzaka. I'm not going to get my hopes up especially with Hendry as GM and trying to outbid the Yankees and Mets. It doesn't look good.
  13. Jeez do I wish I was the flag pole in your sig. ;)
  14. That's crazy talk IMO. Although Urlacher has been good I don't think he was THAT good where you can honestly say he was having a MVP season over some of these offensive players. If Urlacher is gone for an extended period of time we are done for. We don't have much depth at LB and our Safeties have been terrible ever since Brown got hurt. You can clearly tell not having Berrian in the lineup hurt Rex as well. There's a lot to be worried about now, especially considering what is at stake next week.
  15. Agreed. Matsuzaka and Lilly are my top choices in each category.
  16. Vasher had an INT but his tackling was very poor.
  17. Lovie didnt seem to imply BB would be out long. Bradley, id really like for him to fill in if BB cant go. Hope he can get healthy or use sheed more, but i think he might be too small to put out there wide. Weird that Bradley was inactive even though he wasn't on the injury report and that Gage was over him. Big difference between Berrian and Gage.
  18. I hate losses but I'm actually kinda glad this happened. Too much hype and super bowl talk lately and I think a loss like this will simmer that down a bit. We really do have some holes on both ends of the ball especially if Berrian is out for an extended period of time. Our run def was terrible and maybe losing Brown will cost us more than we thought. A lot of missed tackles today.
  19. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-061104rogers,1,630308.column?coll=cs-cubs-headlines Seems like philly would be paying a pretty steep price there for Sheffield. Looks like Hendry has targeted getting a guy like Schmidt/Matzuka/Zito and Lilly/Batista/Kuroda and a big bat Lee/Soranio/Wells/. I have not seen Hendry linked to Padilla yet this offseason but I would much prefer him over guys like Lilly and Batista. I would personally rather have Lilly over the 2nd tier options. Matsuzaka and Lilly would make me giddy.
  20. Of course Cameron "loves" Baker, it is because players can get away with murder under Baker's watch. If San Diego hires Baker, then their position in the divison is what they deserve. I agree with you. I truly believe that is why players want him as manager.
