  1. Hey, I'm just glad that fool isn't coming back here. He has no power, never walked, and I've seen teenagers throw further than him. Pierre=Extremely overrated.
  2. Agreed. I'm so happy he's gone. I'm trying to forget that he was ever a Cub.
  3. Imagine that lineup. I would be impressed too but I don't see that happening. We still have to spend money on pitching.
  4. Agreed. Hendry got his man which is refreshing in a way. Now he has to work on solidifying the pitching staff. I just don't see us making too many moves on offense anymore though.
  5. So do we know if Aram's signing counts as a type A signing?
  6. Agreed. I think we can use his power more as a middle of the order type or else our lineup gets pretty thin after ARam. If we could sign Lugo to play SS and move Izturis for peanuts I can definitely see a huge improvement in the lineup.
  7. Amen! I have posted many times saying basically the same thing. Hendry is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If the numbers are correct, he gave Soriano numbers he couldn't refuse. The longer you leave him in the free agent market, the more things that could happen. Nice post. It is still difficult to believe that Hendry set his sights on perhaps one of the best available FA in baseball this year, and got him. I'm very impressed. I'm glad to see Hendry moving fast that's for sure.
  8. If he has a season like last year again, then I dont think there's a better FA option out there. Soriano's production last year is basically equivalent to Drew's career numbers. QFT - this speaks volumes. A five-year deal will be bad enough, but if it's eight years?? I just threw up in my mouth a little. Face it, if Soriano's signed Drew's *not coming*. Hendry will think he's done as far as the offense goes, with an OF of Murt, Sor and Jones. Next he will sign Lilly or Meche and call it an offseason. I too believe that Drew will not be signed here now. I think the Cubs will put more emphasis on starting pitching now. This is the lineup I imagine. CF Soriano LF Murton 1B Lee 3B ARam C Barrett RF Jacque 2B DeRosa SS Theriot( anybody but Izturis please) PITCHER The lineup gets bad after ARam.
  9. I heard the Cubs are still going to go after Pierre and get him to play second since he's so familar with the grounders that are hit in that direction.
  10. Even better and hopefully they are team options instead of player options.
  11. Drew was my first choice but again I really can't complain in getting Soriano especially if he was signed to play CF. I for one am super glad Pierre is a goner. No more seeing that fool bounce throws to 2B because of his weak arm. We'll see what else the Cubs have up their sleeves but there's no question Piniella and the Cubs are here to win this year and next. I don't expect any more moves offensively to be honest, I think the Cubs will now focus on acquiring starting pitching. Again, I'm most thankful not having Pierre here, that guy irritated me almost as bad as Baker did.
  12. Exactly. If the Cubs by some grace of God get Lugo and Westbrook, we have the best team in the NL not named the Mets. And that would be amazing. We get those two and I will be optimistic again.
  13. I'd rather they did this: 2B Theriot LF Murton CF Soriano 3B Ramirez 1B DLee (until back to form, then swap with Soriano) RF Jones CA Barrett SS Izturis Under no circumstances should Izturis start.
  14. Let's hope we can make a WS run within 3 years.
  15. 8 years ?!?!? Wow just wow. On the bright side at least we got a top tier FA.
  16. Agreed. I would like to see Benson in more. He was doing very well.
  17. Our offense has been pathetic.
  18. Lamont Jordan, McNabb, Deshaun Foster, Marques Coston also hurt.
  19. I personally did not want to see him back here.
  20. 1. I'm pretty sure StL is more homer friendly that the Jake. 2. That's certainly why Marquis sucked this season. But he's been a sinkerball / anti-hr guy in the past. 1. according to however baseballreference does their ranking, no. they were about equal. he also gave up about as many on the road as at home. 2. 26, 29, 35 I don't want Jake Westbrook, but to say Marquis would be just as good is absurd. the guys stats vs. last year .364/.509/.873. on average, every single batter when facing Jason Marquis is about as good as the Cubs best batter. IMO Jason Marquis has no business being on this team.
  21. Probably because that's one guy no one else wants or needs? Haha nice avatar.
