  1. I was starting to feel real bad for KC. Glad to see they can get a win to end the streak. I hope they don't go back to another long losing streak again.
  2. I wish all players had to wear their pants high. I hate when you can't see the stirups...but I really prefer the colored socks ala Prior, Walker, Nomar (of late) and others. I really hate when players wear their pants so long they cover the shoes like Bonds and Aramis seem to.
  3. I'd venture to say that the pitching has been worse than the offense. 4 runs through 5 innings is pretty good. Giving up 8 runs through 4+ is not good.
  4. I'm very excited to watch this lineup play tonight. Game time is just around the corner!
  5. My biggest reason for not liking Dusty is his abuse of pitchers and how he routinely mismanages his players and not putting the best product on the field. I'll be glad when he's gone. With the talent he was given, he should have surpassed the win total he has here.
  6. =D> Does anyone here still like the Cubs? :?
  7. Unequivocably, yes, at least I would. I was never a big fan of showboating Sammy (and showboating in general). Sure, I'm a Cub fan, so I appreciated what he did for the Cubs (e.g. offencive production), but if he would have done it with a little class, I would have been a real exhuberant fan of his. As it was, I was glad to see him go when his production fell off. I, too, believe it still would have been a great speech. I was not a big fan of Sosa's nor was I a fan of his showboating and antics. I appreciated the production he provided for the team, but he could have acted differently about it in my opinion. I think Sandberg's speech was good because it exemplified how I feel the game should be played and exemplified how he played the game - the reason why he's my favorite player. I liked how he went about his business on and off the field. I don't care when he would have given the speech, I would have liked it and agreed with it regardless. Just my opinion.
  8. Interesting. Check out thread titled Expand the League and Kill the Wildcard? for more opinions on this subject.
  9. As a fan, my first thought is that I hope they win. But, as I think harder about it, I want them to lose if it means they're Dusty-less next year. I wouldn't mind a few personal good things to happen to players like Lee, Aramis, Nomar and Murton...but if Neifi and Macias play, I hope they suck. I can't watch the game.
  10. Yay! I hope he does well and isn't treated harshly by the fans if he gets off to a slow start. BTW, I'd rather have Macias DFA'd. Hollandsworth is a good bench guy to have around.
  11. Man I have to pay attention to the new members... seeing "The Troll" was pretty funny but this one is really bizarre! I didn't think adding a team in Norfolk was THAT strange I may be wrong, but I think he's referring to your SN.
  12. Doesn't that mean that every day that a team is off? That's bad revenue for baseball to have teams not playing on a Friday, Saturday Sunday. Not to mention it makes scheduling an even bigger headache than it already is. Yes, i thought I already explained this earlier. You can't have odd numbered teams in each league. If both leagues played each other consistently throughout the season, then it could work. I think all teams should play each other, drop the WC, drop the DH and drop the ASG deciding HFA for the WS.
  13. I hope he can play similarly in Chicago again. I've always liked him and I would hate to see him go somewhere else and prosper if he's capable of playing well in Chicago. I hope if he starts off slow, the fans don't get all over him again. Give him a chance to play stress free once he's back.
  14. I think it was Lee on Friday in Shea. Not sure though. Before that, Aram in Philly.
  15. Ah...possibly...but this is what threw me off - Yeah, I forgot that he had already retired in '94. Confusing. Anyway, what do you think the reaction would've been? I think he would have been elected sooner had he not come out of retirement. I remember hearing many in baseball have that same sentiment. But, on a purely selfish level, I'm glad he came back and played for 2 more years - it was 2 more years I was able to watch him...I thought he was great then so I can only imagine how great he was in his prime. During the induction, someone said that Sandberg got in simply based on his prime years because from 33 and on, his numbers weren't that great. So, had he stayed retired the first time, I believe he would have gotten in sooner. Though I believe he should have been inducted on his first ballot as did those announcing the induction on television. I also think Sandberg was kinda stuck between eras...though I'm not totally sure because I didn't watch baseball in the 80s. It seems to me, he was a doubles hitter who could do the little things and had speed but he turned into a HR hitter...just as the league eventually did. So, I guess I'm saying his playing time overlapped two different times - one in which bunting and running was important and one in which HR were important. I think he was a better overall hitter in the 80s than in the late 90s so maybe had he stopped playing in the early 90s that would have boded better for him to get into the Hall not only sooner, but also quicker in terms of tries on the ballot. But, all just my opinion - and a biased one at that!
  16. Why can't they play like this during a whole game rather than just one inning?
  17. Nice to see Neifi play up to his potential during that AB.
  18. Dammit...the shut out is over...and the fans are cheering!
  19. I still like Nomar's knee socks. That was the highlight of tonight's game for me. I like Nomar getting a hit...but I really hope they don't score.
  20. If they're gonna lose, I want them shut out so it's really, really bad. Not just bad, but really, really bad.
  21. That is the problem, Dusty doesn't like to use logic. If it's logical, he doesn't do it. If it's not logical, you can put money down that he'll do it.
  22. alcohol poisoning I'm drunk and I still haven't cracked a smile in the last two hours, let alone a cheer. Keep drinkin' Until October. This whole season has done more damage to my liver than any damage that it's done to Wood's arm. Haha! I LOL'd. Not that it's funny that your liver and Wood's arm are damaged. :P
