  1. I hope Dempster can go 1-2-3...I don't really feel comfortable having Pujols bat with a runner on...
  2. I thought wind wasn't a factor at Busch due to the stadium being below street level. Busch is a strange place in regards to wind. Due to the way the stadium is built and the location there is wind and it swirls inside the stadium. Every flag can be going a different direction. Oh. I didn't know that. I've never been there...I was only going on what Tim and Joe said earlier in the game regarding no air in the booth. I thought they mentioned that the wind doesn't make a factor. Maybe I misunderstood them or completely made up what I thought!

  4. Nice DP to get out of the inning. Cubs still have the lead.
  5. Inning over - Cubs still have the lead. No worries!
  6. E on Walker. Ball right through is legs. Run scores.
  7. How badly? Is he out of the game? Don't know how badly. He is out of the game. Hector Luna in to run for him.
  8. ESPN shows 4.21 - ranked 9th in the league. Source
  9. There is no rule actual written rule in baseball for where the home team dugout is located. It certainly seems that there are more AL teams with a home dugout on the first base side of the field. My personal opinion for why the Yankees and a lot of other clubs are on the first base side is so the owner/upper management box has a line of sight to the dugout. Also, there may have been more space to build a better home clubhouse on the first base side of the park, thus the dugout would be there as well. Sounds like some research is in order...nation-wide road trip! I've heard this discussion before. I believe the home team just gets to choose which dugout is their's. Nothing in the rule book. Once, someone asked why the Cubs wouldn't want the first base side so that when they're thrown out at first, they take a short trip back to the dugout instead of having to run all the way across the infield. Someone else suggested that the Cubs took the third base side because of all the day games they play - during the day, the sun shines into the first base side and the third base side is generally shaded. Don't know how true it is, though.
  10. With runners at first, first & second, or first, second & third and 0 or 1 outs, when a batter pops the ball up to the infield or to the outfield where an infielder can easily make the catch facing the infield, the batter is called out automatically. The reason is so that the fielder cannot "accidentily" drop the ball on purpose and then get a double play. The double play could occur because the runners will not be running. So, even if the fielder drops the ball, the batter is still out. The runners can advance at their own risk after the call/catch is made. If any of this is incorrect, please fix it. Thanks. I don't believe the infield fly rule applies when there is only a runner on first, it's when there are runners on 1st & 2nd, or bases loaded. The batter is never out "automatically", it is a judgement call on the part of the umpire as to whether the fielder could have reasonably made the play. Fred - thanks. That sounds correct to me. 11. This site has lots of info. The quote is just snippets of what the article says.

  13. Removing the end of the url worked for me, too. The search glitch only seems to occur in the regular interface; it's working in premium. :-k Maybe that's done on purpose.... Pay up, folks! :D
  14. I didn't see the beginning of the derby...what was Abreu's longest streak of hitting HR's without getting an out during round 1?
  15. Complete AL Roster here. Complete NL Roster here. Thanks, Coach! Felt like being lazy and not looking it up myself. :D
  16. I missed it. What was said? Nothing. I thought he'd give some insight into what TLR would do re: Lee and first base and the entire game. He said nothing about it. It was more a piece about how close the race was and how TLR decided to start both guys. Then, Kruk gave his input...take if for what it's worth. :D
  17. Kurkjian talking about it right now. Gah...Kurkjian didn't reveal anything. But....Kruk gives his input! He says Pujols will take over and TLR will voluntarily lose the DH and just use the other guys to PH for the pitcher. He also said Dusty would be mad if TLR let Lee play the whole game.
