    Bradley misses a lot of time due to injury. His career high in games is 141, then 101, and then it falls off the map. I wouldn't give up these 2 for him. That wouldn't be appropriate value. Wilkerson is a different story. I didn't know he had such a history. I've been torn on Bradley so far, but I'm not sure if I want to go after an injury risk like that when John Mabry will likely be the everyday player if he does get injured.

    Ideally we'd be able to put that in every spot, but considering that we aren't low on players that can slug(Lee, ARam, Barrett), I'll take more slugging from the guy on our team that will get the most PA's. So why not hit him 2nd? That would be a better balance. After all, as the argument goes, a leadoff hitter is only once per game. If it were me, I'd put Walker and Murton 2nd or 6th. but then who hits first? I was operating on the assumption that we land Pierre. If things end up as they are now, the best possible lineup would have Walker and Murton 1-2, but I think we'll end up with one of the 4 "leadoff" guys that are out there. oh, i assumed that we were arguing about walker's leadoff merits because we were seeing if he was a better leadoff option than Pierre. If Pierre is on the team, I guess you hit him first and Walker second. Though, if things play out like last season, id rather do Walker first, Murton second and Pierre 8th. No way Dusty has two lefties at the top of the order. he batted Patterson/Walker a few times 1-2 in 2004. But was that after trying all other combinations or was it early in the year? I'm asking because I don't remember.

    What players are you speaking of, on the trade block, that'll bite at an offer of Nolasco/Pinto? Wilkerson and Bradley. Walker career leadoff: .291/.349/.443/.792 Pierre career leadoff: 304/.354/.375/.729 Walker's better, it's pretty clear. If Baker was going to leadoff Walker, he would have led off last year. It's not going to happen. Give it up. You mean like baker had him leading off in 2004? That's not fair... Dusty didn't have the option of Neifi for the better part of that year.

    And what if it's .326 like it was last year? That's the chances you have to take. At least it's about .200 points better than Patterson right? ;) why is that a chance you have to take? that makes no sense. He's posted .378, .374, and .361 too. and a .332. what's your point? yeah, he could be a decent leadoff guy, but there are only a few one year rentals that i give up the top 3 minor league arms for -- and slappy mcgee ain't one of them. and unless you're finding a way to get dunn, abreu or manny (w/o your top minor league arms, who you traded for your dreamboat, once in a lifetime, 'prototypical leadoff guy, mind you), this team isn't going anywhere next year anyway. so what's the point in giving up the farm for a guy that can help you win 81 games instead of 79? Sorry you can't comprehend my point (taking chances). Pretty simple concept. This team isn't going anywhere next year?? That's a great attitude. Geez man.

    Nolasco was ranked 7th in BA's top 10 this year. Pinto wasn't ranked. I dont know what letter grade that correlates to, but a team's #7 prospect and their #11 (at best) for a solid leadoff hitter sounds like a good trade to me. EDIT: Or you could just read the posts before mine from the guys who really know about our minor leaguers!

    I know a lot of people are opposed to getting Pierre because of his down year last year, among other reasons, but consider his OBP in days games the last few years. 2005: .374 (70 point difference between day and night) 2004: .414 (60 point difference) 2003: .393 (40 point difference) Career: .394 (60 point difference) I never knew this but it looks like he's always been a pretty solid player in day games. Go get him Jim!

    I'll take it. With Pierre leading off, who hits second? With Dusty in charge, it's gotta be a righty, so maybe, just MAYBE, Murton or Cedeno?

    Mariano Rivera has 1 pitch, and he was untouchable his entire career. I don't care how many pitches a guy has, performance is performance. Hill has not performed, to date, like a guy who should hold up a trade for an impact player. Rivera throws a fastball, a cutter, and I think (not sure though) a pretty good slider too. I do agree with your second point though.

    Because they're desperate for a shortstop and all their good free agents are leaving? (Furcal, Farns) Yeah, but Lugo would be much cheaper, plus they have Betemit and a whole cast of others in house who could play SS for less than a tenth of the cost of Renteria.

    Talk about looking for something to complain about. Hendry makes a statement implying that he's not going to jump all over the first deal that is presented to him, but rather he'll wait for a GOOD deal to come to surface... so let's complain about it. :roll:

    People are going to bash our GM, our manager, our players, ect. It's the nature of message boards. I too get sick of all the posts bashing Hendry because he "missed out" or "didn't do exactly what I'd do" and sign player X or player Y, but you just have to look past them cause they're inevitable.

    if he did and succeeded, that means hendry will get him for sure, because that would guarantee that he has enormous hands, which will prove helpful when the time comes for catching the ball. :lol:
