  1. Did Deivi "save" his team last year like Neifi saved his? I think not.
  2. Thanks for the recaps, derwood. Even though it is Gammons, there's nothing better than Hot Stove talk.
  3. Great, Hendry still showing no interest in bringing Nomar back. Fail to get Lugo then be stuck with Neifi as an everyday infielder, Jim!
  4. I wouldn't think you'd have to pay money to receive the "perk" of saving bandwidth, but okay. No big deal.
  5. fine ban me already if you want to I'm sure the mods were waiting for your permission.
  6. Thanks for the help, but no, I'm not a premium member. You don't have to be to turn signatures off, do you?
  7. I thought there was a way where you could make it where you don't see others sigs in threads... was I imaging that?? If not, how do you do that?
  8. Hah, I guess it is a pretty tough avatar to look at. Particularly on a Cubs board, I'll see what I can do. Especially when it's in every thread.
  9. I bet Neifi thinks he's going to start next year, and once he told his buddy Furcal that, Rafael decided he didn't want to be a backup and went to LA. Damn you Neifi!
  10. Oh geez, please don't go after Burnett.
  11. Speaking of Pujols, Furcal will be making just one million less than Albert next year. That's ridiculous.
  12. Wow, more non-baseball discussion in the transactions forum. That really doesn't surprise me anymore. That's sad. I don't get the "Nomar wont be back cause Hendry treated him like crap" argument. Hendry simply told Nomar to seek employment elsewhere and that the Cubs were looking in another direction. Isn't that a lot better than NOT telling him anything and leaving Nomar in the dark? Nomar is a professional baseball player and surely realizes the injury risk that he is - he can't be surprised that a team would prefer a younger, faster, more reliable option than him. If that option doesn't pan out though, Nomar can't be bitter and refuse to deal with Hendry. If he is, well, I hope he has fun playing in Pittsburgh.
  13. Screw Furcal, that greedy SOB. Wasn't all about the money huh? Neifi Perez, your 2006 starting SS. ](*,)
  14. Trot would be a nice addition - he put up a .275/.357/.446 line last year, and his career numbers are slightly better than that. He made 7.5 million last year... what's the rest of his contract look like?
  15. No need to start a new thread, but what have the Cards done so far this offseason? Who's option was and wasn't picked up for next year?
  16. They'd better bring back Nomar if Furcal is going to demand that type of money. No team in MLB wants Nomar to play SS. That should tell us something. The only place he'd fit is 2B (since 1B and 3B are filled for us), which is just about as physically strenuous. It's just not going to work. I think it tells us that most teams are already set at SS more than anything else. I'd like to see Nomar given a one year deal, with Cedeno backing him up. Doubt it'll happen though.
  17. Relax, guys. Everything I've read has said that Kerry will be ready by Opening Day. Just because Carrie freakin Muskat says that he wont be isn't exactly cause for concern.
  18. Yeah, that should read "the latter." I changed it. Thanks.
  19. Aren't the Cubs offering a 4 for 40? Not that I want Furcal for that kind of money but I would take the Cubs offer b/c of the year. That doesn't make any sense. 40 million over three years or 40 million over four years? I can't see any rational baseball player/agent taking the latter, based solely on the contract itself.
  20. Walker, Hairston, Cedeno, Neifi. All of the above are capable of playing second base every day, and all of them are already on the team. I don't understand people's surprise that Hendry didn't get Castillo.
  21. Let's hope this is a move that makes Schurholtz change his priorities from Furcal to Hoffman. What about Todd Jones? I thought I read somewhere that he wants to pitch for the Braves, and he'll be a lot cheaper than Hoffman too.
  22. Why would he want to go to the Dodgers? That team is a mess right now.
  23. Yeah, it better be Manny. After all JVB was about the 15th guy on the staff. Manny can't be a ptbnl. Not that he ever would be, but why can't he?
