  1. Didn't hear it, but is it too late to void Jockstrap's deal and sign Walker to play RF? (I know that won't happen... just wishfully thinking outloud).
  2. Deal numero uno is the only one I could really live with. Without checking the numbers, I'd have to say that we're getting ripped off royally in the other trades that you propose. On a side note, it really pisses me off that people are concocting Prior trade proposals. Perhaps this is Hendry's goal - to get Cubs fans to expect him to be dealt. But unless we make a deal that GREATLY improves our team, I'm strongly opposed to trading Prior.
  3. I could care less about post count, but I was just wondering when the search and "view my posts" features would be available again.
  4. If we're trading Mark Prior, we damn well better get someone better than Miguel Tejada for him.
  5. Always good to see a Cubs killer get out of the NL Central.
  6. 1. Hendry isn't denying the reports of Prior's name being mentioned because he's in a negotiation. He's not going to negotiate through the media. He never negotiated with Philly for Abreu... that's why that rumor was shot down so quickly. Don't let the fact that he's not going public lead you to believe that he's going to trade Prior. That's just silly. 2. No way Hendry does this trade. He gives out stupid contracts here and there, but he doesn't get flat out fleeced in a trade. Why the hell would he trade a starting pitcher, especially a damn good one, when we don't even know when Wood will pitch next year? 3. Enough about Prior not likeing the organization. Here: my source says Kerry Wood hates the Cubs... worry about that for awhile. (No offense JeffH, just sick of "source" stuff getting blown out of proportion). 4. Merry Christmas, NSBB.
  7. Huh? i think mckinney said something along those lines last season, after the illini beat them in the braggin' rights game. Ha! I wasn't aware of that. Mckinney sucks. i think every player that's ever played under quiny has underachieved, i can't think of one player who he has coached that's fulfilled their potential, not one. EDIT: okay, so kleiza was good. I disagree. I'd say Rush, Paulding, and Arthur Johnson all did. Maybe Clarence Gilbert too.
  8. Huh? i think mckinney said something along those lines last season, after the illini beat them in the braggin' rights game. Ha! I wasn't aware of that. Mckinney sucks.
  9. I can't help but wonder if he would be this honest if he wasn't currently looking for a contract.
  10. I had no idea that the Braggin Rights game was tonight... the score doesn't surprise me.
  11. LOL. Why do people always ignore recent bad years and point out when a player was good years ago? What about his 5.30 ERA in 2004 and his 6.21  ERA last year? I too disagree that he's an average pitcher... he's a terrible pitcher.
  12. Giles at 15 million? No thanks. Is he really three times better than Jones? I don't think he is. And not only that, but by giving Giles a 15 million dollar contract, that all but gaurantees that Aramis opts out after 2006. It's moot at this point, but I never would have even considered paying him 15 million a year.
  13. Yes, we are absolutely an improved team. No doubt about it.
  14. I know this is the Bulls thread, but did you guys see where Kobe has 62 points through three quarters against Dallas?
  15. To add to that... He strained his oblique on August 10th of last year. At the time, his line was 261/342/450. At the end of the year, after playing hurt for the final two months, his final line was 249/319/438. So it's entirely conceivable that had he not gotten injured, his numbers wouldn't have been nearly as bad as they would have. And geez TC3, relax man!
  16. So what are the Red Sox going to do about centerfield now?
  17. Apparently his OBP took a nosedive starting in August last year when he started playing hurt. Supposedly he was headed to the DL and then Hunter got hurt so he played through the pain. I'm not a fan of the move, but sometimes you have to look deeper at the numbers. EDIT: Oh, and can we please not start calling him JJ?
  18. Something I'd recommend is Wrigley Field: A Celebration of the Friendly Confines by Mark Jacob. It's more of a coffeetable book than anything else, but it does a great job explaining the day to day operations of Wrigley and how it became the shrine that it currently is.
  19. Wow, that came from nowhere. I know the Yankees had been rumored to be interested, but nothing new came out lately. At least not that I'm aware of.
  20. you're an idiot. Run where?Back to the dugout after he K's 120 times? Seriously, Hendry's fascination with running and defense this offeseason really shows that he thinks he is copying the White Sox.......Jim you are a moran! It's not as good as the Burnitz quote from last year, but one of the radio guys asked Hendry about the high strike out totals, and he said something to the effect of "yeah, well high strike out guys don't ground into too many double plays."
  21. you're an idiot. Alright! We're going to be better defensively! And fast too! Nevermind the fact that we'll only score two runs a game, we're gonna have the awesomest defense ever!!! Way to go, Jimbo.
  22. Would love Perez for the bench/platoon as well(especially now), maybe it will serve to pacify Baker's "need" to put his fingerprints on everything and anything. Walker best be here batting 2nd opening day, unless used in a deal for a difference maker only. I have to believe he will be since the Cubs don't need to trade for an OFer anymore I'm not convinced. Patterson still has to be moved and I see Walker (and others) being included in a deal to get another MI or SP. At this point, we can't afford to move Walker. We need his bat more than ever. Trading Walker now would be stupid. So basically it's gauranteed to happen.
  23. Why bother? A bottle of Liquid Drano is a lot cheaper. It's an OLD ENGLISH night if you ask me. EDWARD 40HANDS! I'm on my third bottle of Dos Equis. I'm not gonna quit until I've forgotten about this signing. :D Some Bailey's mixed with a little bit of vanilla ice is calming my nerves. Eh. Im using OE and "Informer" by Snow. Haha, a true one hit wonder from the early 90's.
