  1. You can always change your name to Bump Knickerbocker. If Gallagher is the pitcher, does he project to be a 2, 3, 4 or 5 and when is he expected to be on the big team?
  2. you underestimate the meddling incompetence of peter angelos... Maybe he can meddle and ask for a proven vet pitcher instead!
  3. The only bad thing is that it takes away a good backup 3rd baseman unless they put Theriot or Cedeno at SS. I wish Ward could play 3rd or right.
  4. Huh? How do you figure? If it's at 38 and they add Roberts, they'd be at 39. Are we now giving up 4 guys for Roberts? I thought it was 2 guys. Rob said 37 when he first posted. I thought the Cubs were sending 3 guys that were on the 40 man thus making it 35 after adding Roberts.
  5. Did Lou ever play him there last year? I agree that this would help keep the lineup solid as it's also easier to find a decent hitting second baseman.
  6. Oh and thanks moorecg for updating us with the Rule 5 draft!
  7. Well he has to work out better than the tub of goo Wells they had before.
  8. We'll have more chances, don't worry. The NL stinks so that really helps.
  9. Ok...now I'm getting a little worried. I wonder if he could be involved in a trade to a team like Baltimore? Why would the Orioles want another crappy reliever? They saw how well it worked for the Reds?
  10. Leave it to the guy with the caveman avatar to talk about speediness and lineup balance. Interesting first post. Yeah, it wasn't that great. Second post isn't much better. Well welcome anyways!
  11. Welcome to the forum!
  12. I thought the picks were by worst record...did the Cubs trade to move up? Can you trade to move up?

  14. St. Joe's is a solid team, nice win there Truffle.
  15. I'm glad somebody is watching them! Why are the Flyers on watch? too many dirty hits resulting in suspensions as an example of a bad call yesterday, danny briere got a roughing penalty for roughing himself against the ice in the first period. Did he take a nasty shot at somebody and miss?
  16. Here's one from CBS: http://www.sportsline.com/columns/weblogs/entry/10510196

  18. That's why scouts make the big bucks, GM's make the hard calls like this and scouts make it better for the organization by picking a better prospect.
  19. CS isn't a good thing but you still have to be able to steal a base and take an extra one one in a while that a slow guy/poor baserunner can't do.
  20. That is a lot of money on Fukudome. Yikes. Gallager + Cedeno + Murton for Roberts makes sense to me. I hate to see Murton go in that deal, but I could definitely see it happening. I'd probably do it if I were Hendry. Now this is how it gets interesting. Would the Cubs have been better off having Matsui and those players or Roberts? Depends...if the Cubs still won't play those players, then they're better off having Roberts. If they would have played them, then you can debate. I see them as filling the bench and making it pretty solid though and Gallagher as being a guy that could come in and give the Cubs some starts as needed. I'm curious on what the Cubs plans are for Pagan.
  21. If that's the case, bravo to Hendry. I just don't have enough faith in the man to believe that's the way he's operating. I do in this regard. If he can sell it I agree he probably won't pull it off but I like seeing him say good things about his players.
  22. I'm hoping Dunn drives him nuts. Swing at the darn ball!
